“Reliable business hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2012

I've stayed here now for 3 visits, every time I've visited Zhuhai. It's a decent hotel, as business hotels ago. Reliable in terms of service, quality of room (spacious, good options on pillow style, TV channels), restaurants (Chinese, Italian, general cuisine "coffee shop"), and extras such as booking of ferry tickets to HK International Hotel, regular shuttle buses to the ferry terminal, etc.

They've got a nice quiet lounge on the ground floor and a nice Irish Pub to have your night caps or to listen to a good band play.

Location is good too in the middle of town, and only 5-10 min away from ferry terminal.

Staff are professional and courteous and generally can speak English - at the front desk. A bit of struggle on the language front if you go beyond the first layer of contact. But that's not the hotel's issue - that's a general sense of how things are in this part of China.

“Good Option if you in China”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

I was sent to Zhuhai by my company to run a project at a production plant in Doumen. My first stint is 2 weeks which I am currently in the middle of. For this trip I am staying at the Holiday Inn Zhuhai. First things first, I am not a fan of the Holiday Inn brand in the United States so I did not know what to expect. To be honest, this is a pretty good hotel. It is a "5-Star" and for the area and price this is as good as it gets. The rooms are clean, although a bit dated. The TV's are circa 1985, but have a surprising number of channels in English. The beds are hard as rock, but I haven't had any issues sleeping. The hotel provides plenty of the little things in your room such as soaps, shampoo, cotton swabs, etc. Since the water here is not drinkable for foreigners, they provide a couple bottles per day to use which is nice.

CAUTION: Do to local energy issues, the town cuts electricity on Sunday's. The hotel says they use backup generators during the shutdown for basic power needs. I haven't been here on a Sunday yet, but I will update once I live it.

The fitness center in the hotel is actually quite good, better than most hotels. It is large and has plenty of equipment. Their our a few restaurants to choose from, a little pricey for the area but not bad. I recommend the breakfast buffet on the 4th level in the morning, good options. I also like that most of the workers have the ability to at least somewhat communicate in English. Some are better than others, but they will do their best to help you.

Within a short walking distance is a duty free mall that has a pizza hut and mcdonalds and plenty of shopping. Be ware, if you don't speak Chinese you will have a tough time. Also you can walk about 1.5 miles to a really nice park along the water. It is also the location of the famous fisher girl statue.

I am going to try a different hotel during my next stint, but only because I won't to see the other options. The Holiday Inn has made it somewhat bearable being here for long periods at a time.

Room Tip: There aren't many non-smoking rooms available...BUT..if you get stuck with a smoking room, ask t...

“Christmas at the Holiday Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

I went here for the Christmas Dinner. The food was excellent and the staff is always helpful and friendly. I've been here numerous times and have never been disappointed.

“English travellers favourite post in Zhuhai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

I could see why this hotel, a favourite hotel among English speaking travellers
1. There is an Irish pub at the lobby serving good Guinness
2. A number of frontline staff are proficient in English
3. The bell boy is honest. I paid the same price for a cab from Zhuhai to Zhongshan despite engaging in the services of a bell boy
4. The hotel room is bigger than other hotels
5. Until St Regis is build in the 2015, this remains the only western hotel china in the vicinity of Zhuhai

I could see why this hotel is avoided by locals:
1. You get charged a whopping $100rmb for the use of the internet
2. Despite being an ICH Platinum Ambassador, breakfast was not provided free
3. The TV is 2 generation old, being CRTV
4. The hotel is located in Jida, which is not as central as other hotels such as Guangdong Regency or Charming
5. The hotel is full non-smoking in the common area

The spa on the 4th floor offers full service at 600rmb and about 150rmb for 1 hour leg massages

Room Tip: All rooms are similar in the good old 1980s spirit

“The best of the rest in Zhuhai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

We stayed at this hotel while in Zhuhai for business for 3 months. We moved here from another so-called 5 star hotel in Zhuhai and were pleased with what we found. The staff are welcoming and helpful, with a good grasp of English. The rooms are a really good size - even the lowest price rooms - with plenty of space for a desk and armchair so we could work and relax. The restaurants are good and the pub is also very welcome!

There is not much to criticise here - perhaps a surprise at the old fashioned TV and the lack of a DVD player (which we would have appreciated given how long we had to stay).

Room Tip: All of the rooms are a good size and the views don't vary much.
