We stayed here in early October, 2011 and have nothing but great reviews. After staying 2 nights at one of the 200 Decameroon places on the island and paying prices you would find in Hawaii, we were pretty dissapointed. I guess the Colombian Government got the owner of Decameroon resorts to buy into building capacities of locals to run and operate hotels for tourism. Seems like a good idea until you realize that Decameroon charges anyone who took their courses and displays there colourful sign out front a hefty 60% commission on guest fees. What you end up with are outrageous prices and some very poorly run places. The first hotel we stayed at was actually very nice and well run with good breakfasts but the price was simply unaffordable. Besides us, it was almost completely empty as are all the Decameroon places as noone can afford their prices. In the end, what you have is a situation where Decameroon is actually making money while keeping competition to their big resorts down.
Back to Sirius, it was a great place to stay with clean rooms and hefty breakfasts. The staff were very nice and accomodating and Alvaro helped us plan some exciting day trips that didn´t require the all day boat tours that locals run around the island.
Providencia is an awesome island and worth the trip. Just be prepared for prices much higher than even Cartagena.
