“Will never go back”

My stay in that hotel was a very bad experience.

1-Reservation: They didn't give me the option to choose between the hotel and the resort but simply made my reservation to the hotel because it is more expensive.

2-New year's eve party: There were 3 parties each is for a certain amount of money but again I was only told about the most expensive one only and didn't know about the other parties until I got there but it was too late because I had already booked. Although I booked the most expensive party, its dinner was just food and no drinks included even water ALTHOUGH my reservation is all inclusive :S

3-Rooms: Rooms are old. Although the hotel was not full but they booked me a room almost inside the storehouse :( but they were nice -being sarcastic- to allow me to replace it with a room in the THIRD floor and very far from the beach and loopy.

4-food: There are no variety in food and always not well done.
Once while I was having my breakfast some guy offered to bring us fresh orange juice as a welcome drink then surprised us with the check and said the fresh orange is out the all inclusive.

5-All inclusive: is nonsense, you can only get drinks from bars but not restaurants while bars are few and the hotel is very big, it is like you need a cap to get to the bar. the bars start at 10:00 am so don't expect drinks before that time.

6-Animation team is lame and don't make any remarkable activities.

“" Nice hotel if your AI expect to tip or service will be slow!"”

We found this hotel to be a good standard but we were lucky to get one of the better rooms with a view of the pool. The room was both spacious and clean but still a little tired with chipped furniture. We did have a big problem with mosquitos but the hotel reception sent a can of spary for the room and this sorted the problem out. We were all inclusive and were made to wear arm bands, service was slow for us until we were known for tipping then everyone fell over themselves to serve you. If you didn't tip regulary you didn't get good service, especially from the bars and the same applied to the cleaning of your room. Even the beach towel person expect his tip everyday, that was the downside for me. Apart from that the food was not bad with plenty of choices of places to eat inside the hotel. Unfortuntely we visited when the riots where on and within a few days of arriving most Europeans were leaving and no new arrivals came in, then staff out numbered guests. The hotel laid staff off and closed down almost all of its eating places so we only had a choice of a beach bar or bistro type place, food choice got worse too. To be honest we didn't really sample the best of the hotel. I would certainly go back there again as we enjoyed what little they had on offer at what seemed to be a most trying time for the Egyptians..

“Grand Hotel”

Spent 7 nights at the Grand Hotel. All though our room wasn't the best they had on site, needed an update, it was clean and comfortable. Food was very good and plenty for all tastes.
Its high lights to me was it had its own beach and sea front which was handy. Free beach towels.
Free safe deposit boxes in every room was good touch.
Excellent pool areas.
Entertainment was a bit boring and we found a few times shows didn't happen.
Didn't like going out on to the streets much due to the pressure of shop keepers hassling you for there custom.

Christine and Carole

Room Tip: Ask for one near the beach. a bit quieter for when entertainments on in the evening.

“Would and will go back!”

Rooms were clean but a bit shabby, bed was good and A.C. worked. From our room to the beach was less than 50 meters. We liked to eat our breakfast at Royal Palm and dinner at Arabesque restaurant, food was good and staff was nice. No big complains! If you want to go for snorkeling trip, turn right from the hotels front doors and the first travel agency is El Joker. Trip with equipments, lunch and 3-4 stops for snorkeling costs only 15 €!

Room Tip: We simply asked a quiet room with queen size bed, and this is what we got. You could also ask "...

“Good Value for what you pay”

Grand Hotel Hurgarda. Great central location in the resort, Very helpful staff, General areas clean and tidy. Pools areas looked clean and well maintained althought with the hotel being on its own beach we tended to stay on that. The beach itself was clean and sunbeds and umbrellas provided by the hotel. The hotel provides beach towles free and without having to pay a deposit however would also suggest taking one of yours as some of the material covered matresses on the sun loungers are some what stained. Food wise we stayed on a b+b basis, there was a fair choice of food rather repetative but thats like most hotels. Pancakes were fab but not at all kept warm. Dont not eat in the arabesque resturant as it is not air conditioned as its slightly open to the outdoors, whilst birds are sweet they are not sweet when standing and eating the bread and on the serving spoon for the scrambled eggs. Thererfore choose the inside restaurant.

For the rooms there are some in blocks 2 and 3 which i most certainly would not have been happy to be in as right by plant rooms and backing on to a wall also these seem to be the oldest rooms. Our room was in block 1 and although tired was clean comfortable and did the job. The room houses a fridge which is great for keeping your drinks cool and also a safe deposit box which was free to use with no deposit etc to pay.
The rooms very serviced everyday and staff pleasent.
This is obviously one of the oldest hotels in the red sea hotel chain and that does show. The entertainment seems the same every evening. We didnt stay in the hotel at night instead we ventured out. We can recommend the tripple x restaurant and mohammed the manager is very pleasent. Also a small pizza place about 5 mins walk as you turn left out of the hotel with a green canopy cannot recall the name of the place but very very good pizza.
Hurgada itself was so very quiet, however the shop keepers were respectful when you said no to going in their shops and the resort itself clean. I also felt safe to walk out on my own being a female.
Be aware of anywhere you visit in Eygpt you need to carry £1 eygptian coins for use of toilets and carry tissue of tilet roll on you as ofter you dont find any.
We booked excursions with ohod excursions in hurgarda on the row of shops his name was bob and the excursions were fantastic value for money and very well organised we can highly recommend them.
In conclusion wouldnt like to stay all inclusive at the hotel as i do not believe it could offer the entertainment or food quality but works very well as a good b+b helpful staff, great gardens and location just be prepared for a hotel that is comfortable albeit rooms a little tired.

Overall a good holiday, I dont think you will regret staying here for a week.

Room Tip: Avoid blocks 3 and 2
