“clean, safe, great breakfast”

We stayed for 3 nights. We would recommend this homestay to everyone. Very helpful owner, great breakfast and a nice quiet location off the beaten track. It is a ten minutes walk to the clifftop - or an autorickshaw-ride 50 RS.
The location is quiet and you really get to see a truly Indian neighbourhood which is great. The nextdoor neighbours have got goats which play on the little temple in the garden.
Nice coconut palms and a lot of birds. Great stay - everything was spotlessly clean and everybody was helpful, attentative and friendly all the time.

“We loved the breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2011

We would highly recommend Casa Eva Luna! Nice rooms in a quiet surrounding, very clean (the rooms were cleaned every day!) and we loved to have breakfast on the balcony. It's not too far away from "Helipad" (5 mins walk). They offered many services, e.g. backwaters and even a riksha pick-up to the train station at local rates. We should have stayed here some days longer...

“Cute homestay in Varkala.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

We paid 1600 INR for a double room on the first floor of the house. No AC bothered me and should be included for this amount of money. This was made up by overall cleanliness of the place and service. There was a large mosquito net over the bed and the bathroom was nice, although no hot water, another minus for this price but it was hot enough so it wasn't a huge nuisance. Location is OK, a 15 minute walk for the helipad. The place feels more like a hotel as the folks who run it are not overly friendly and stay out of your way. I very much appreciated this. However, if you needed help with something they were happy to help you out. Food is wonderful. You can get authentic Spanish tapas and cortado in Kerala, 'nuff said. I only wish we ate dinner at the house more then once. There's free WIFI but it barely works even downstairs. Decoration is great and once again, the place is spotless.

“Most enjoyable stay in India”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2010

We booked a room online via Kerala Konnections website. Katrina met us at Varkala station, which was great and saved us a lot of hassle with the rickshaw drivers. Our first impression of the house was fantastic and then when we saw our room we were even more impressed. We stayed in the Bubble room on the ground floor, it was full of colour and spotlessly clean. Katrina did all our check in and gave us full information on things to do and see in and around Varkala, as well as provinding us with a full 25 page information booklet which we found very useful during our stay.

We loved waking up to the sound of the birds singing and the smell of excellent freshly brewed coffee which is Casa Eva Luna's own blend. We had breakfast and dinner every day, as after having travelled India for the last few months we just wanted some home comforts and Esthers cooking certainly is. We also took a Tibetan cooking class with Tashi and learned how to make Tibetan momos and Tibetan bread, it was a great experience.

We really enjoyed the ayurveda rejuvination massage and during our stay had a few different massages. We loved Casa Eva Luna and would recommend it to anyone who prefers to be away from the thick of things and surrounded by nature and local residents. It's the nicest place we have stayed during our India trip, a real gem of place, specially after having travelled India for a few months it was a real bonus to end our trip here.
