We have started in Udaipur and with Mountain Ridge it could not have been better. Rajasthan cities can be a bit overwhelming, so it is great if you can take a Tuktuk out of the city to this quiet place in the country. It is a beautifully designed house, with Piers and his Nepalese family taking care of you as a friend of the family. You can lunch or dine together with the other guests at the big table, outside, and they cook great stuff: mix of Indian and Western food. During meals you can share your travel stories with other guests. Mountain Ridge is in the midst of beautiful nature, great rooms, very friendly staff and Piers!

Mountain Ridge is a great mix of many positives...the location, the building, the views, the company of other guests, and the most important of it all, the host and his team. The geniality of Piers, and the helpfulness of Amrit, Raju, and all the other staff complements the offerings of the place beautifully...whether it is the chai, or the breakfast table in the open, or the evening drinks near the fire. The best part of the stay in the very comfortable, clean and hospitable surroundings is the time that one gets to spend with people from many different parts of the world, each with their own perspective, stories and experience. This is something unique to Mountain Ridge...it is neither so big that most guests spend their time in anonymity, nor so small that only one or two groups or families stay at one point of time. We extended our stay by one day [Piers was most considerate and kind in letting us stay in the Monsoon Suite, whose balcony has the most breathtaking view of the land around], and we wish we had more time to spend.

To start with the good first, the staff is brilliant. They anticipate what you might need. When we woke up the next day, they asked us if they should call a taxi or drop them off to town, every single accompaniments with your food appear (important to enjoy a good meal). The owners are the most awesome people. Very nice, very humble. Rooms and everything else was fine. The location was a bit of an issue, its a little outside town. Ask the owners what a standard can fare should be to this place.

A great peaceful place outside the city but yet close enough for day trips to Udaipur. It's like that vacation home you dream about minus any hassles as Piers (owner) and his team make sure there are none. Lovely views, plenty of relaxation and self-time, delicious food, fun conversations and opportunity to meet new interesting fellow travelers is what you'll find at Piers' place.

Its a perfect getaway for travelers like us with busy lives in Delhi. We needed a 3 days getaway and wanted to visit Udaipur, yet being in another busy city during peak tourist time was not so attractive. We are glad to have found Mountain Ridge on Trip Advisor and the great reviews definitely helped. There are no hassles of advance / online payments or check-in & check-out time (unless necessary). Book a room and show up - its that simple. We had travelled by the night train, Mewar Express, both ways and that entailed reaching Udaipur early morning and leaving in the evening. The flexible check-in and check-out time worked perfectly for us as we got 3 completely relaxed days at Udaipur.

Staying at Mountain Ridge (Monsoon Room) enriched our Udaipur experience and we were able to enjoy the city in all its glory because we were relaxed and just 20 minutes from home - Mountain Ridge.
