“Great for couples looking for a more intimate retreat”

My husband and I stayed over Christmas last year, and we had a lovely time. It was a great place to arrive in Bali, and from the moment we came through the airport we were greeted by lovely and friendly and kind people who work for Jamahal. Every need we had was immediately attended to, we received an upgrade upon arrival into a beautiful spa villa, and we were happy as clams.

The service here was exceptionally friendly and caring. When I had an issue with WiFi the morning after we arrived, and needed to check in with our children, the front desk happily allowed me to use their phone to call home to the U.S., and were very courteous and kind about it. The food we had was EXCELLENT, still thinking about the soup and Mie Goreng, as well as delicious breakfasts served by our friendly and sweet butler. When we decided to go to the pool one morning, we called for coffee and it was there almost immediately. I can't say enough good things about the friendly and attentive hosts.

There was some noise to be heard from the nearby street, sports games going on and so forth, as Jamahal is located just off a busy road, but if you ask me, it kind of added to the environment, we realized we were in the heart of Jimbaran yet experiencing luxurious, romantic seclusion at the same time.

The staff also went above and beyond - I left a raincoat there, and while I was in Ubud I realized it was missing and called Jamahal, who indeed had found it, and the next morning it was at the Chedi in Ubud! I was so grateful and pleasantly surprised by how nice they were about it, and how efficient. I don't think I properly thanked them for this favor, so if staff is reading this review, THANK YOU!

“Excellent Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Jamahal Private Resort & Spa is a fantastic SPA and Resort located only 5 minutes walk from the wonderful Jimbaran Beach on Bali. Our experience after 8 nights at Jamahal is only positive: The villa, the service, the ambiance all was excellent by all measures. The friendliness and open attitude from the staff was way beyond what we had hoped for. All staf we met was very attentive, helpful and friendly in whatever matter we had. The villa we had was located in a totally private garden with a private pool. The villa build in Bali style was clean, up to date and well kept and room service was excellent. Jamahal atmosphere is relaxed and elegant. We will definately return to this small paradise!

“Best quality and friendly”

It was such a pleasure to stay at this hotel at our arrival. The service is amazing and the people so warmth. I highly recommend Jamahal. They know how to please the customers and leave a very nice souvenir of Bali. Moreover, it is close to one of the best beach of the island. Go there at night to eat fresh fishes on the sand! SPA is also well recommended at the hotel.

“Amazing find, could not have been better from start to end”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Our stay was for our honeymoon so after plenty of research we picked Jamahal based on a combination of the location, reviews, photos and price, and I can say that we were completely satisfied with this hidden gem from start to end.

As soon as we arrived at the airport we were impressed with the service, kindness and willingness of our driver to help, and this was a reflective of all the staff at Jamahal who were all amazing, and went out of their way to please and surprise us. The room was perfectly clean and every detail and consideration was thought of by Jamahal and the staff, from selections of local fruit in our room, to gowns, and flower petals on the bed. We ended up upgrading to a villa with a private pool and this was definitely worth it as it was our own private oasis.

We met with the owner who spent plenty of time asking us what we wanted and then providing many recommendations based on our needs. There was no hidden agendas with the recommendations, just honest feedback and what we should and shouldn't see and everything that was recommended was exactly what we were looking for. The highlight of the stay would have been the day trip that one of Jamahal's employees, Oki, who took us for a long trip up north to see various towns, rice plantations and temples. We don't usually take tours often, but our guide Oki was the kindest, honest, and friendliest tour guide we had and it was a pleasure to spend the day with him so I would highly recommend the same day trip.

As we were seeking a quieter holiday to relax and we love beaches and seafood we picked Jimbaran Bay, as it is one of the more authentic and quieter beaches on the island, but it is one of the most stunning with amazing sunsets. Jamahal was only a few minutes away and it was so easy to get a shuttle bus from the complex to the beach at any time. I would definitely recommend having a few meals in Jimbaran Bay where they bring the seafood into the fishing harbor each day. You can eat on the sand and the cafe's and restaurants are very basic but the food is fresh, cheap and amazing and you can view the sunset as you eat. Jimbaran Bay is definitely the best place to stay if you want to avoid the places that are swarmed with tourists, but day trips are easy.

Food at Jamahal was great. We had breakfasts and some meals included in our package and we were not disappointed. There were too many choices with Breakfast and all were great, and the meals for lunch and dinner were based upon what was fresh on the day from the local markets.

Jamahal was perfect in every way and we would definitely return and recommend it. The attention to detail was immaculate and it was very personal, so definitely worth staying there versus the bigger and less personal resorts that are on offer in Bali.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the Villa if you can, it is amazing!

“Hidden Gem in Jimbaran Bay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This delightful property of 13 villas was our introduction to Bali, chosen from the Tripadvisor lists and as you would expect it did not disappoint. Jimbaran Bay is one of the few parts of the southern coastal strip which have not been turned into a low rise Miami or Gold Coast: its narrow streets filled with street stalls selling everything from petrol (gasoline) in 1 litre bottles for motor bikes to flower petals and fruit for temple offerings, not to mention a bustling local food market selling everything you could imagine (including all parts of chickens). It is a lively, local Balinese alternative to the sanitised megaresorts at Nusa Dua or the more developed areas of Kuta and Seminyak.

Jamahal does everything that you would expect from a larger resort, but on a micro scale. We stayed in a villa which was so private that you had no sense of anything else around you. It was constructed in a walled courtyard with its own warm plunge pool on the sunny side and an extraordinary outdoor bath, shower and loo on the other. When we arrived, the bath was filled with petals (doubtless purchased from one of the street vendors) and warm ready for use!. The villa itself was decorated in Balinese style and very spacious, with enough room for a dining setting for two, a king size bed with mosquito netting and a sitting area. In addition to the villa’s private pool, the resort has another larger pool set in tropical surrounds.

There is no restaurant, but the resort serves breakfast in your room, and any other meal you might want from a small but thoughtfully designed menu of local and western dishes. Surprisingly, it also made the best coffee we had anywhere on our trip – excellent cappuccinos! The staff could not do enough, restaurant recommendations were impeccable and the resort drivers doubled as helpful and engaging tour guides.

We can thoroughly recommend Jamahal: we could not find fault with it.
