“Popular hotel always heavily booked”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

This hotel is one of the better choices in the Legian area. It is actually not that old but things wether and look old pretty quickly in Bali. As far as quality of accommodation and service goes this hotel is very good.
The rooms are fairly well maintained and have all the features that you would expect. A two bedroom suite is a great affordable option for a family with a living room in between and french doors out to the pool.
The gardens in the hotel are stunningly beautiful and the 2 pools are integrated into the landscape. The owner of the hotel loves a bit of bling and decoration so there is lots of it; far too much really as every surface in the lobby and restaurant are covered in paintings and sculptures and decoration.
The spa is excellent. It is fully air-conditioned and super clean and the staff are very professional. It is more expensive than a massage on the beach but the clients who come here want something better. Facials, manicures and pedicures are really top notch and they have a very good hairdresser there as well.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. It is far enough away from the hustle, bustle and sleaze of Kuta yet walking distance to lots of great places to eat and shop. The front of the hotel faces a oneway street and the back faces the ocean.
In Bali you can pay a lot more and get a lot less.

Room Tip: S Block is quietest

“Oldy but a Goody”

This is a older style hotel on the border of Legian and Seminyak. My family and I have stayed here several times with many of our friends. We always have a great time and are greeted promptly by the staff. Desi is an absolute gem as nothing is too much trouble. We stay in the ambassador suites which suits our family of 5 sometimes 6. There are two main bedrooms with their own ensuites and balconies the interconnecting room is a lounge/dining room which also leads out to a balcony. The decor throughout the hotel is bold and ornate. The hotel serves a good breakfast, not a huge variety like at other hotels but always fresh and tasty. Good quality restaurants sit on either side of the hotel so plenty of choice for a evening meal. Swimming pool is always clean and lovely to swim in. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Ambassador Suites great for larger families or groups of friends.

“Great Hotel Booked Again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

As two mums who had never been to Bali before we really didn't know what to expect except for what we had been told by friends and the travel agent. We stayed at the Kumala Pantai in October last year for 5 nights. From the moment we arrived the staff were very friendly and the grounds extremely tidy. We were a little disappinted that were weren't told were the restaurant was located and that our room was facing the construction site nextdoor, and we had the laneway behind us. Yes it was a little noisey but it wasn't during the night so you got some sleep. We have booked again this year.

Room Tip: If you aren't happy with the room ask to move

“Great Hotel and Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Family of 4 stayed in 2 Deluxe rooms in S Block. From the beginning with our booking direct with the Hotel Staff, Desi and luhnik etc, they were very prompt in replying in emails which is excellent, we had to move our booking a couple of times and this was done with ease. Hotel grounds are beautiful, loved the restaurant and loved the entertainment each night at restaurant. Staff are great, pools are lovely, shady and plenty of sun lounges. Breakfast is good, lots on offer. We liked our rooms very clean, spacious etc and we had view of smaller pool. Great location to walk to everything. Maybe a suggestion in time of free wifi in room for guests so not having to worry of taking laptops etc to restaurant as this is the time to dine with your family and friends. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay would definately return to this hotel...

Room Tip: One floor up is always nice, more privacy and then not to high up for alot of stairs...

“Reasonable accommodation and a good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

The staff at the Kumala Pantai are the hotels greatest asset. they are friendly, smiley and lovely. The hotel itself is not luxurious but it is only three star. It is well kept and the two swimming pools are lovely. The apartment we stayed in at the front of the complex was good but lacked a balcony which would have really been great. That was a real negative for us.
The buffet breakfast was repetitive but breakfast is. there are only so many combinations of things. It was consistant and good. The restaurant food itself was really very average and not terribly good. We ate there a few nights when the weather was absolutely pouring down with rain. Soaking rain. Other than that I think that it was what we expected from a three star hotel. The location was good. A short taxi ride down into Kuta about $2 and if it was nice weather an easy walk. Many restaurants around. The mozarella at Mahata was fantastic with fantastic staff, a short walk away. Laundrys near by and a small complex of stalls that look quite new as you turn right out of the front gate. Lovely stall holders there.

Room Tip: I would contact the hotel direct via email for options they are very prompt at replying. I wish I ha...
