“Great place to begin exploring Bali”

We spent our first 6 nights at this hotel on our first-time arrival in Bali. Its location in the village of Sanur gave us a great sense of life for the typical Balinese in that area. The hotel grounds were beautiful, and the buffet breakfast every morning was to die for! Our room was comfortable and clean. This hotel was also a great place to launch day trips to Ubud and other locations of interest. The atomsphere was casual, which was especially appreciated after the long journey from California. There is a bricked walkway that runs the length of the entire beach, and we had a great dinner at Bonzai Restaurant (literally on the beach), about 1.5 miles north of the Hyatt beach area. Plus, both the spa and room service were very reasonably priced. We'd stay here again if we ever returned!

“Wonderful beach front hotel but customer service failed when faced with problems”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

We spent one of the weeks of our wonderful honeymoon in Sanur and stayed at the beautiful Bali Hyatt. We had a lovely ocean view room on the 3rd floor but not sure that anyone on a lower floor would have had as much of a sea view.

The facilities are well looked after with a great pool, spa, jacuzzi and romantic waterfall cave. The restaurants serve delicious food but can be pricey if you eat there every night. We ventured out of the hotel for some cheaper meals – try Casa Luna outside the front gates for great a stirfy, sometimes free dessert vouchers, Thai dancing performances and Bali Dry ginger ale. Or try dinner on the beach front at Bamboo, Sanur Beach and other beach restaurants for cheaper options and beautiful views.

The staff are all very polite and offer courteous service. However, even though they are efficient and attentive, the lack of continuity of staff meant that they couldn’t deal with any problems effectively. It was disappointing that they couldn’t back up the amazing surroundings with consistent customer service.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better sea view

“A wonderful way to end a month in Bali!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful month in Bali. I had been studying in Ubud so I felt that a few days at the beach would be just the ticket to relax before reentry to the real world! I researched many hotels and chose the Hyatt based on the gardens and location. Short and sweet..we loved the Bali Hyatt! Having read many reviews, we knew to expect some old fashioned elements of the hotel..but in reality, I loved the rooms, even though they were a bit damp..but then..it's Bali! I especially adored the funky bathroom tiles! The rooms was the cleanest of the three hotels that I stayed in during my month, including one that was much much more expensive! Small touches made the hotel stand out..the offering in the room, the fruits, the water in glass bottles, nice large towels and an amazing staff. The grounds should be a vacation destination themselves! We did feel the breakfast was a bit overpriced and we would prefer a la carte, however we dined one evening at the grill restaurant and loved it. We ventured off the grounds for a few dinners and most breakfasts and had no trouble finding great food. The beach was perfect, the pools were beautiful and the common areas enchanting. For me, the Bali Hyatt captured the best of Bali..the people, the beauty of nature, and most importantly..the spirit.

“Grows on you”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Our first return to Bali since a disaapointing holiday in Seminyak. We wanted to avoid the greater Kuta area this time and eventually settled on Sanur. We were very happy with the choice after our stay in Sanur, it has a great small town feeling but you are still reasonably close to the main parts of Bali.

The Bali Hyatt itself is a fairly mature resort. The first time you wander the red brick paths to your room can be quite worrying: The grey concrete facades on the resort reminds you of an WW2 military structure abandoned to the jungle. The rooms are smalish & dated. Additionaly, as many reviewers already pointed out, there is a dampness to the bedsheets caused by the aircon. Al helpful room cleaner provided an de-humidifier that fixed the dampness on the second day. We got a good deal on the room rate so were fairly unconcerned by these issues.

Breakfast is great, particulalry considering it is part of the package. Great food and a good selection. The two omelette makers cope with the huge demand very well. Staff are numerous and helpful.
Food and drinks elsewhere in the resort is good but IMO over-priced by a good 20% at least. Unless you are unconcerned by cost then you will no doubt find yourself wandering down the beach boardwalk in search of a cheaper venue for your dinner (my tip: turn right at the beach and head for the nearby bamboo restaurant, for a special occasion meal headfor the nearby Charming restaurant which is on the main street). Also note that there areno kids meals on the room service menu.

Despite all this we found ourselves settling in and very much enjoying our stay at the location. The beach is great for kids. Riding down the boardwalk was great fun. The pools are decent enough, if they installed a small water slide they would have been much better for families. There is enough going on in town to make for an enjoyable time spent wandering through. Hawkers are present but pretty relaxed.

We would certainly return to Sanur. The area matched our expectations of a great holiday in Bali. I would be happy to return to the Bali Hyatt too as it was great value.
