small hotel of the parigata group. 3 stars should be enough to rate.
Rooms especially executive have to be refurbished since long time.
The bathroom are not exceptale in cleaness and use.
Corrosion on the taps and kalker around. Dirt in the sinks and black hairs around.
Wall tiles are dirty and never been cleaned.
Cleaness is very low rated and the food is pour.
Do not expect a 4 star hotel in serve and quality.
The tiny pool and a pool aera is absolutely to samll and covers only 15 sunbeds and two umbrellas. You can hardly find a place in the shade.
You do not find a placed after you are not early enough to block.
The spa is a farce. the ladies are always chating to each other and do not take care of clients.
The food quality is in the range of every samll restaurant. Breakfast buffee is something in between the word and the selection.
Mostly alderly guests for longer period are the most common.
The offered beach club is horrible. You find only 15 sunbeds for 3 hotels of the group (I guess for about 150 people)
The beach is not cleaned and with rabish around.
The restaurant serves small portions. The staff is kind and helpfull.
If you continue on the beach way you may find a lot of better restaurants.

We stayed only one night and were happy to leave. The grounds are nice, but the room was not. Mold on the curtins, in the bathroom, uncomfortable bed. I think there are better place to be had for the price in Sanur.

Part of me wants to award this hotel a near 5 star rating. However, due to the neighbours’ noisy roosters, building works, and a deafening hotel pool waterfall, this hotel doesn’t deserve any star rating.

If the hotel fixes these major noise pollution problems the hotel has big potential. Until then avoid this place like the plague.

I booked direct with the hotel six months in advance on the proviso I got a quiet room. What I got was a room on the hotel’s eastern perimeter (room 201) next to private villas, which were being demolished.

Only a wire fence separates the hotel from its noisy neighbours. One of the neighbours runs a chook farm so the roosters go off all day (3 am to dusk). I think the four roosters that I counted were trying to out crow each other. The main daily crowing session is between 4 am and 9 am. Also at 6 am the building works start and sometimes runs late into the night. The builders live on site. One night at 9 pm they started concreting the foundations of the new villas. All night I could hear the continuos shovelling of concrete. It sounded like there was a grave-diggers’ convention going on next door.

I doubt any of the guests at the hotel didn’t hear the daily morning rooster racket. I wear custom made ear plugs, but the roosters still woke me most mornings around 4 am. I also noticed that at that time of the morning more than one-third of the other rooms had their lights on. I’ve never been to a hotel where people were up so early.

Thankfully during the day the noise from the roosters and building works fade into the background because the hotel switches on its Niagara Falls copy of a waterfall that plunges into the hotel’s small pool. Most of the rooms overlook the pool. Unfortunately the waterfall is so loud that when my travelling companion and I were in the pool or sitting out on the room’s balcony we had to shout if we wanted to have a conversation.

This hotel really needs to control the noise factor. OK, the building works will go away in the next few months especially if the builders keep working overnight, but the roosters are a persistent problem. I’ve read other people’s review on this hotel complaining about the roosters and I thought that surely it can’t be that bad. Trust me its worse, much worse than I thought it would be. The hotel should pay off the neighbour who owns the roosters; really there is no choice otherwise this hotel only deserves a star rating relative to a hovel. Also turn down the water pressure on the pool’s waterfall. If guests wanted to holiday next to a waterfall they’d book a hotel near Niagara Falls, not in central Sanur.

On a positive note the hotel is ideally situated in-between the main shopping/restaurant strip and the beach, and not far from central Sanur and Hardy’s Supermarket 500m away. The hotel is accessed via its own narrow laneway that runs from Jl Danua Tamblingan (50m away) to Sanur beach (150m) away. However, this area of the beach is not the nicest so head north 500m. Alternatively, if you head south 500m there’s also the Hyatt beach frontage. However, the beaches aren’t that nice there either. A further 100m down from the Hyatt there’s the Parigata Resort and Spa’s sister hotel the Parigata Villa’s. They have a beach club. Parigata Resort and Spa guests can have access to a complimentary shuffle service to get there, and use of the lounges is free of charge, though the set up on the beach is very small and the beach area like the Hyatt isn’t that nice. Instead we turned left at the end of the hotel’s laneway and headed northwards 500m just after the first of the rock features at Jl Pantai Karang (near the German Consulate building). There is a nicer slightly weed free swimming beach there, but the beach is always better at high tide. Download a tide chart before you go.

From the main road the hotel is hard to find, and many taxi drivers confuse it with the aforementioned sister hotel Parigata Villas, south of the Hyatt. Parigata Resort and Spa however is the first laneway (unnamed) after the Hyatt same side heading north. Look out for the Hotel’s sign (pinky/purply in colour) after the Hyatt complex and before a strip of restaurants including Organic Manik , Star Café and so on.

The hotel complex has a very small floor plan, only 43 rooms, with most of the rooms situated in one of the hotel's four three story blocks. Seven rooms, 229-235, are situated on top of the hotel’s reception and restaurant. Even though these rooms are further away from the roosters, building works and noisy waterfall they are sometimes also noisy due to the morning staff preparing the breakfast buffet downstairs. These rooms, unlike the others, do not overlook the pool, but some do have a view of a rooftop garden. Generally, rooms 229-235 are classified as ‘run of the house’ (ROH) bookings.

The other rooms all have their own pool view balconies. The lower level balconies aren’t fully enclosed or private but they do have direct access to the pool only metres away. The pool is small and in three partis, waterfall landing area, slightly larger plunge area and a smaller children’s paddle pool area.

Even though the hotel is beautifully landscaped and with a giant goldfish pond, an ideal playground for children, there were strangely no children. I didn’t mind that because the hotel has enough problems with noise without adding unruly children into the equation. The clientele is very mixed. The youngest person was in their mid 20s, with the average age around 50. Europeans dominate the hotel and sometimes at the breakfast bar in the morning it sounded like I was having breakfast somewhere in Berlin.

The breakfast buffet is usually included in the room price. At check in you’re given these silly food vouchers to use at the breakfast buffet, each one individually dated for each day of your stay. We always forgot to bring them with us to breakfast, but it didn’t matter because everyone else seems to forget as well.

Breakfast is served from 7 am until 10 am. It’s generally very busy at opening time due to the hotel guests that awoke early thanks to the roosters, and it’s also busy again near closing time due to those guests who nearly slept in after going back to sleep after being awoken early by the roosters.

Food quality is good to average. There’s an OK selection of pre-sliced fruits, and two daily choices of tinned juice, and one choice of cereal. There are six different types of dishes in the buffet, though some of these you could hardly describe as a separate dish (for example, fried bread). There is only ever one meat dish on offer – one day its tiny cheap sausages the next it’s crispy bacon. The bacon is rock hard so everybody uses their fingers to eat it because you can’t stick a fork or knife into it. There’s also an omelette chef that cooks eggs any which way you like it as long as you leave very specific instructions. Even though the buffet choices are limited you’ll find something edible and most things taste good.

The staff are generally friendly. Our housekeeper even introduced himself and asked us if we had a preference for what time of the day we wanted our room cleaned. I’ve never been asked that before at any other hotel.

The rooms are modern and spacious, but with some quirks. There is a handy kitchenette but there’s no power plug for the kettle, so we had to plug the kettle in next to the TV. The TV is old and there’s 20 mostly Asian satellite channels to choose from. There’s another power plug, slightly hidden, next to the bed. The lighting like most Bali hotels is shocking. We changed the lamp globe (screw in globes) to a higher wattage.

There’s a large safe in each room, which is one of the reasons we booked here. It’s hard to find in-room safes in Sanur hotels.

The balcony door has a bad habit of locking itself and locking out guests. For this reason, most guests leave the balcony door open when outdoors. There is only one key per room, which means the key has to be left at reception if you’re travelling partner wants to do their own thing. The air conditioner works well and quietly.

Each room is supplied daily with two small bottles of spring water. There’s a tiny mini bar so there’s hardly any room to put your own drinks in. Oh, by the way if you do the hotel will charge you as I read in another Tripadvisor review and that fact was confirmed by management. We negotiated before hand and asked them if we could put our own food in without charge, otherwise we wouldn’t book. They reluctantly agreed to our request.

The bathroom is a tad old but quite posh, clean and functional with excellent water pressure However, the shower has a mind of its own so select the bath setting until you get the right temperature and then switch to the shower setting and step back for a few seconds until that temperature reaches the shower head. You’re then safe to step in under the water. Usually half a turn of the hot water handle followed by three turns of the cold water handle seems to work. The bathroom has a hairdryer - shampoo, bath soap and some other toiletries are provided.

Don’t use the hotel’s airport transfer service at $20 US per person. Instead ask them to call you a Bluebird Taxi, which only cost us 70,000 rupiah (about $8).

There’s 24 hour room service, with a wide choice of meals available. The prices seem reasonable for a hotel even with the 21 per cent tax added on top. However, the range of nearby open all day cheap restaurants on the main street meant we never dined at the hotel, apart from breakfast.

There is a entrance along the laneway, which means you wont have to walk through reception each time you want to exit the hotel. However, for hotel security reasons the side gate is closed after dark. Secure parking for motorbikes and bicycles only is available near the hotel entrance.

As previously mentioned don’t stay here until the three major noise issues are resolved.

Great place to land after a long international flight. Nice pool with a waterfall you can get a good shoulder massage under. A peaceful location that's one minute from the beach, one minute from the street, yet very quiet inside the open air courtyard and lobby, with the sounds of the fountains to soothe you. Great restaurants all around. Big,spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Good beds. Plenty of hot water, and good water pressure. All the standard rooms are similarly sized and of consistent quality, which is great for a group. I've brought 7 or 8 groups here over the years, and they always give it high marks.
