“Good value !”

We have just had 5 very relaxing days staying at the Bumi Ayu Bungalows. The complex is simple, but we had deux bungalows, and they were extremely comfortable. Our 2 daughters were in a bungalow beside us,and they also found there room comfortable. The rooms are huge,as is the bathroom, and they are lovely and bright, and the beds so comfortable that we all slept soundly-no tossing and turning trying to get comfortable. There is a nice big verandah across the front with a table and chairs, and a towel rack, which i loved-so nice to have somewhere to hang wet things. The rooms were cleaned daily. The complex could do with a little sprucing up,especcially around the pool. There was the usual thing with not enough pool lounges,as people do like to place there belongings on them at the crack of dawn !Breakfast was good-plenty of choice for us-not a buffet, but we always eat to much when there is a buffet,so we were more than happy with what was on offer. We also had lunch by the pool a couple of times, and that was good too.The location is good if you dont mind the walk down the laneway, staff are lovely and friendly. In all,a good example of Bali charm in a budget, and we would definitely stay here again. Please note,I didnt get a chance to view other rooms, but in conversation with other guests, all comments regarding the hotel, food and rooms were positive.

Room Tip: Ask for deluxe or super deluxe if you want a big room.Poolside rooms are in demand, but as it is a sm...

“Basic and a bit rundown”

We stayed here because our favorite B&B was fully booked. The place is a bit old, but our bungalow was clean and sufficiently furbished with a little terrace. The pool is big and provides long chairs. The breakfast is OK, the staff friendly. The distance to the beach is a bit longer than other places, because the compound is at the end of a side alley. That makes it quiet at nights. We asked for a baby cot and got a nice one that could fit under the main mosquito net.

Room Tip: Bungalow 29. Away from the pool, more quiet.

“Basic Bali”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

This is quite a nice, no frills place to stay in Sanur. Just a short walk down the lane to shops and restaurants
We stayed in standard rooms- the price was very reasonable for what was provided; AC, mossie nets, nice bathrooms and quiet location. The staff are not as friendly as other places we have stayed in Bali over the years.
All in all, good basic accommodation.

“Sleepy location away from the hustle and bustle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We arrived late in the evening to a quiet, tranquil location with absolutely no noise interruption from the street (granted the location of Bumi Ayu isn't in the most raucus part of town!). This theme continued throughout our stay.

We stayed in an upstairs room, overlooking the pool. Our room was basic, but comfortable (remember - you're in Bali, do not expect western standards!) Aside from the water pressure in the shower being very weak, the room was fine with a comfortable bed.

The wardrobe locked and had a seporate security drawer with keys that you could take with you - this gave us peace of mind.

The staff were lovely, but every time you walked out of the hotel, you would be accosted by the hotel associated drivers trying to sell you tours and "deals" and transport to wherever you want to go. My advice - for short distances, get a meter taxi. The hotel reception can order these for you. If you are traveling longer distances, sometimes it pays to bargain with the drivers, especially if you are likely to be stuck in traffic for a long time.

Bumi Ayu is about a 10 minute walk from the beach, and a good 20 or so minute walk from the happening part of Sanur. Overall, it's a very sleepy place, so if you want to party this is not the place for you. Kuta and Seminyak are a good half an hour or so away by taxi, depending on traffic.

The food was average, but the kitchen did bake amazing breads. You're in no shortage of choices though, with plenty of restaurants on the beach and main part of Sanur.

Try and be patient with people who approach you, bargain hard and be prepared to walk away - I guarantee you'll find someone happy to take your offer next door.

“It was okay just for staying”

The hotel was average in term of services, the bath room had some insects there. The cotinental breakfast was litte bit under average. The location was good, close to some restaurant and close to beach.
