“Beautiful grounds; spacious rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2010

This is truly a resort. Not in the way you would find a resort such as Sandals in Jamaica, but it's a resort nonetheless. The grounds are very well maintained and the resort sits right on the edge of a river. Great for a family as there are things for the kids to do such as riding bikes, swimming, badmitton, rafting, and a playground. The drawback is that you have to eat at the resort or take a cab to town but I'm not sure there's anything worth eating in town anyway. The prices aren't terrible and the portions are very large (except for the pigeon and I wouldn't order it again). The staff was friendly enough and room service prompt. The business center's internet was down the entire time we were there though so that was a disappointment. They give you a bag of homemade potato chips and two bottles of water each day which was a nice snack. The breakfast buffet offered many options. I would recommend staying here if you are heading to Borobudur. Then stay in Yogyakarta only for seeing Prambanan. Doing both in a day from this hotel would be exhausting.

“Stay at the Hotel Puri Asri when you visit Borobudur Temple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2010

We spent a week on the Yogjakarta area, and we much preferred our stay at the Puri Asri, over the actual city of Yogja. The Hotel Puri Asri is comfortable and relaxing, with a beautiful location on the river that overlooks rice paddies and a volcanoe.

It is very close to Boroubodor, and if you e-mail the hotel direct, you should be able to get a nice room with breakfast for under $50 US a night. The mini- bar in the room is very cheap, and the grounds of the resort are pretty

It is a remote location, so you will have plenty of time to relax.

“Fabulous Value 20 km from Borobudur”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2009

We wanted to be at Borobudur for the big Buddhist festival of Waisak. But we waited too long to make reservations and everythin in the village was booked out. But we made a booking at Hotel Puri Asri, 20 km (12 mi.) away in Magelang. This was a lucky break because Puri Asri turned out to be a wonderful place to stay, and great value besides.

Small blocks of rooms are spread over the extensive grounds. The hotel provides a shuttle to get you about (sort of a stretch golf cart). Our room, at the end of a blcok of six, was spacious, very attractive, spotless and had all the mod-cons. The big veranda looked out over a river and, beond to ricefields. When the clouds parted we looked up 3000 meters to the summit of a volcano.

The tri-partite swimming pool complex was very pleasant. And fun, too. The main pool was backed by an artificial wall featuring the faces of three giant grinning demons with red tonuges hangin out. The tongue of the middle demon was a water-slide. Whee!

The restaurant was quite good, with its own fine views. The breakfast buffet (included) was particularly extensive and excellent. For a reasonable fee, the hotel will taxi you to Borobudur (unquestionably the world's greatest Buddhist monument). We took the taxi one way. Then, coming back, we walked to the Borobudur bus station, bused (for small change) to Magelang bus station, then took a mini-van bus (for even smaller change) to the Puri Asri.

Worth the stay even if Borobudur were no where near. With this great attraction, it's a wonderful deal (we paid about $44/night, w/ breakfast)
