Garden Palace Hotel is always be my last option when I travel to Surabaya, but this time I will write it off from the list. The room was said renovated but I guess it was very minor renovation. Bath tub, toilet bowl, sink were stained and broken bit here and there. The cigarette smell was so strong, even I could smell in the mattress (and I stayed in no smoking room/floor). Worst thing happened during breakfast, there was no seat allocation so every guest must find own seat. The number of the guess was so obviously way more than the seat available. Plus everybody smoke everywhere. Such a terrible hotel!

We stayed two nights as part of our trip across Java by train. Lovely large room with huge bed. I recall paying about £37.00 per night. As others have said, nice hotel with a remarkable breakfast. Flat screen TV in the room and WiFi.
If you are staying in Surabaya you must visit the zoo.

This is an old hotel but has recently had a major renovations done bringing it up now to a very good standard especially the rooms.
The hotel has free Wifi in all rooms and the breakfast at the restaurant in the morning was very good.
Basically it has all the modern trappings you would expect for a hotel in the upper price bracket except it has no swimming pool.
The location is excellent as there are two major shopping malls within 5 minutes walk and the main train station is about 6-7 minutes walk away.
If you want somewhere flash but don't want to spend an absolute packet then I would say this is a good choice.

all of our collegues has enjoyed a lot here and we can never forget the beauty of this city also...
the hotel is well in budget for alll and facilities over here are also very good so must share the experience.....
