When I saw photo of the beach front at the tour agency in Ppl Park, I fell in love with it straightaway ! But after payment and reading 2-3 negatv & positv sharings, i was mixed w trepidatn. Advice: go w open mind even though bad experiences are true.
However, i must do justice to the enjoyable wkend stay during 2012 ch new yr, IN THIS REVIEW.
# Some complaints are valid like hvg a clean sea wtr swimg pool vimp, perhaps at low season the staff were not efficient in removg tiny leaves & HAIRs floating on the wtr. i hope the hotel boss+top management read the reviews seriously, that the pool staff must daily REMOVE THE FLOATING HAIRS+leaves ON THE WATER ! IF ADULT SWIMMERS ACCIDENTALLY SWALLOW THE STRANDS OF HAIRS INTO THEIR THROATS, THEY WILL HV TO PAY HIGH MEDICAL BILLS FOR INFECTNS OF ITCHY IRRITATING THROATs AND THE HOTEL CAN BE SUED TO PAY OPERATION BILLS ! the swimg pool is charged lowly, only for non-residential guests. seawater is pumped directly into pool. OK to swim. BUT to supervise children as all 4 edges of pool DOES NOT SHOW DEPTH !# Breakfast not fantastic but edible w the toasts. porridge was cold. #CAUTION : Spa - sgp owner charges sgp prices!, no credit card, cash only. resort has no atm if you run out of $. 1 tiny shop for Tshirts+sourvenirs+drinks stall. bring more cash & adaptors+long cable for yr sharing one powerpoint next to mattress, takg turns to charge yr 2hp, camera, notebk.
lagoon - children can play. seabed is clean when water recedes. adults dont swim due to seeing the non-swimg end with yellow clusters of unsightly floaters - could be salt concentrations? water is low for swimming but if one walks on dry seabed, it can be 5.5feet high in the middle, cordoned off by cement potted plants. When tide comes in, can see fishes & a big lonely fish and 2 marine blue fishes.
BUT MORE POSITIVES - we stayed at the cozy lovely, rustic beachfront. CNY 3days fully booked ! yet we didnt hear our neighbours talkg. our aircon dripped 2nd nite, attendant & technician came promptly to resolve leak. receptn staff+attendants were helpful w extra pillows. TV was working well.
Grounds are huge w tennis court and log cabin houses built or supported on tree trunks.
This hotel will survive negative truths as there's a huge kwan imm on its grounds, facing sgp, protecting it and beckoning Sgporeans to visit and spend $ in prosperous batam!
Batam has changed a lot in this 2nd trip, my lst was >12 yrs ago. The day trip was gd, w shopping at interestg City Square, visits to a huge temple overlookg sgp, a miniature village houses, seafd and visits to tempting factory outlets & polo.
The ferry terminal is connected to another hotel+shopping centre ! vconvenient!

This resort is beautifully located along the beach which is one of the most beautiful View that took my breath away. Also there's a lovely guan yin statue situated close to the resort. Only one word to describe the statue, "spectacular"!
The exterior designs of the resort's rooms reminded me of kampung attap houses. Nature lovers or those whom want to escape the busy city life would totally appreciate this. My room's balcony overlooked the beach front and it was pretty nice to just seat out and enjoy the wind and sound of waves. Just remember that the balcony is shared with your neighbor as well :-)
When your there try the spa. It's one of the best with it's spa by the sea concept. I enjoyed the massage as it drained all my stress away.
The restaurant sadly wasn't up to my expectation. The seafood ala carte Was hard to stomach but to my surprise the breakfast next day was gladly better.
Overall, the service was good. Good experience but it could have been better.
Went there on a 3d2n trip with the family.
Even though the resort is shown as a beach resort, there is no beach there. Every house/room/thing is built on stilts, much like a kelong/kampung concept. The rooms were all made of wood and situated on a hill, which requires the guests to walk quite a distance from their rooms to the lobby. For people visiting the resort, I would recommend that you bring along an umbrella at all times as there is no covered walkway to lead you to your rooms. Once it rains, you would be stranded until it stops.
We had 2 beach cottage front rooms which overlooked the sea and the Spa. The rooms, which were side by side opened out to a common balcony, which was a good place for chilling out. However, walls of the rooms were so thin that we could hear other people from the other side, even when they were just talking or bathing. Much lack of privacy. In addition, the rooms were tiny. The room only had space for a queen-size bed in a corner, with a table infront. The little fridge was placed on top of it as there was nowhere else to place it. The TV even though LCD was rooted to the wall. I was lucky that the TV reception in my room was good as the one next door was horrible. The whole family had to then squeeze into the tiny room in-order to watch TV together. Even though the resort provided free WIFI, I was unable to use it from the laptop. It was too slow. I was only able to use it through my android phone, as it took ages to load a page. In addition, I was only able to get WIFI in my room and not at any other location at the resort.
The food at the resort was not as bad as what I had thought from the other reviews that I had read. Some of them were yummy but the others, blah.. Similarly to the other reviews, the seawater pool/Jacuzzi was just horrible. It looked so disgusting that I would have rather gone to swim in the sea than in the pool. The water was a dirty green/yellow and it was still, unlike in a normal swimming pool where the water would be flowing in and out. Leafs and whatnot could be found in it and worse of all, you have to PAY to use the pool! It wasn't about the money but how can a resort charge their guests for using something that seemingly has not been maintained and is gross.
Spa Villa, was a cheap alternative to the ones in Singapore and was really good! The strength that the therapist used was strong and consistent throughout the whole massage session that I had. Their body scrub and massages were much better than the one outside NagoyaHill Shopping Centre; which I think was called Eska (even though they are even cheaper).
There was nothing much to do at the KTM resort other than the spa sessions. Shopping was a 25-30min ride away, which cost about 80-100k rp without the shuttle bus. The shuttle only brought people to the mall at 1pm local time and picked them up at 5pm local time, which was not enough time for us to do our shopping and other treatments.
I think that a 2d1n stay at this resort would be fine just for its spa services and chilling out in a relaxed environment but if you are looking for a shopping trip or one for water sports, staying at another hotel/resort would be more viable.
We booked a 2D1N stay as packaged by Spa Villas, which is situated inside KTM resort for 4 ladies to enjoy a relaxing spa and a quick getaway from Singapore.
They gave us Family Cottage 2 with a sea view that was partially blocked by a tree (Cottage 1 has an unobstructed seaview facing Singapore!) which is alright by us. The cottage is clean and cosy and the 2 rooms (1 with Queen bed and 1 with 2 single beds) had their own attached bathroom and shower stalls. The beds are comfy and clean enough.
Amenities include a small electric kettle, free tea and coffee, teaset for 4, a small fridge, bottled water, an electric cooker, a kitchen sink... All in all a good deal for the price we were paying. The bathroom had 2 clean (although a bit old) towels and even toiletries to use.
The resort is located very near Sekupang Ferry terminal (new and modern) - it took our driver around 5-10 minutes to get to the resort. The lobby staff had good command of English and were helpful and friendly.
In the resort there is a very sad outdoor karaoke stage and set up beside the sea water pool. The pool claimed to be therapeutic but the murkiness did not seem appealing enough for us to try it out. A convenience store selling stuff like beer, potato chips and ice cream opens till around 10pm I think.
There is free unlocked WiFi for the internet addicts. Not super fast, but it works. Taxis (old ones and drivers drive scary) are available to bring you to Batam Town about half an hour away, where Nagoya Hill shopping mall and the A&W are situated. For watersports and go kart, you should head to Waterfront City but it is lousy for shopping.
Great for families and couples for a fuss free weekend getaway that is value for money.
