“Awesome place for active families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Awesome place for families where parents are as adventureous as their kids are. Our experience (family with kids 12, 8 & 5 years old, 4D3N) was absolutely happy and we surely will come there again.

Few bits of advice. Ideal age to fully enjoy the place starts from about 10+. Staff takes all possible effort to help younger kids and kids are happy, yet the experience for teenagers is more complete. Also, trip from Singapore might be fairly tiring for younger kids (1.5 hours by ferry + 1 hour by car). Ferry ride might be fairly bumpy at times, so might be wise to take sea sickness pills beforehand. There are no shops nearby, so whatever extras you might need (snacks, etc.) better get them at the ferry terminal in Singapore. As the place is all about outdoor activities, it depends on weather, and it might be wise to prepare something to entertain the family indoors if it rains.

Food is all good, fish is clearly the best. Our preferences about less spicy food for younger kids were taken into account. Beware, very difficult to lose weight there, despite all the activities!

From all the activities everyone's favorite was boom net trip. Verbal description fails to describe how much fun it is. I honestly didn't expect that it will be so much fun for me too – but it was! My other favorites were sailing (they have Toppers), archery and rock climbing.

Be prepared that kids will want to stay there, and come there again!

ps. And it was awesome to wake up at sunrise because fishes were splashing loudly just underneath the house.

Room Tip: Chalets at sea!

“Awesome!”

We spent a long weekend at Loola (3 days and 2 nights) and had a great time sailing and kayaking. The boom net trip was great, and the flying fox was awesome. In between activities, we enjoyed playing soccer and pentanque.

Loola's staff are really friendly and accomodating, and the food they provide is simple, but delicious (mainly) indonesian fare.

The seaview chalet that we stayed in was simple, but comfortable. There is no aircon, no TV, no hot water, but the sea breeze was lovely and waking up to the sound of the waves and the ocean views was really amazing!

We hope to be back again soon!

An excellent place to have a holiday and adventure at the same time. Great place for bonding. No TV, no internet, no WIFI... and we survived!!!. The surrounding nature was just out of this world. everything is so natural, Eco-friendly. The staff were so so so hospitable and accommodating. The food was awesome. The activities were exciting and adventurous. We enjoyed the sea chalets. Beats any 5 star hotel in the whole wide world. Kudos to the staff .. Darren, Konti, Elsa, Hijan, Edi and the rest of the LooLa crew. We are coming back again soon, you bet! Recommended for 6yr old and above.

“Definitively a highlight”

Loola is a very good place tot visit, especially with kids. The staff is very friendly and competent. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is overwhelming. There are many interesting activities to do like swimming, sailing, climbing and kayaking. For kids this is like paradise. We stayed four days and three nights. It was a highlight in our three week trip through Asia.

“Mixed feelings”

Spent the long week-end there with the family. The resort is 1h45 min from Singapore and a further one hours by car once in Bintan.

Loola reminded us a little of Telunas Beach, for its rustic bungalows on the sea and the lay back atmosphere of the locals who operate it.

I do not recommend Loola for kids of 6 yrs and younger. The activities are meant for teenagers (Flying fox, coconut tree climbing, archery, skywalk, ...). If you do come with a toddler, please note that there is no baby crib. They do have a good baby chair. Ensure you bring insect repellent and a net for the baby crib. There are a lot of mosquitoes there

The food is average, some good and some not so good meals. They are good at accommodating your eating hours if you let them know in advance.

The sleeping experience is where it was disappointing. The pillow are hard as rock, and the only fan is not strong enough for the size of the room. The dogs barked at 4 am for a good 20 minutes and the generator is quite noisy during the night.

The staff tends to stay next to the kitchen when you don't need them so it's kind of long walks when you're staying on the sea bungalows to ask for stuff.

They offer free internet wifi when the generator is on, between 6pm and 9am. FYI, there is no hot water in the rooms.

Bottom line, the price was quite affordable, and we were happy to encourage the local economy. But we won't go back. Telunas Beach, we will...
