This was our second time back to Wunderbar as we stayed there in 2009. It was nice to see the same staff who were all brilliant.

Wunderbar is excellent value for money and situated right on Bentota beach.

Wunderbar is a perfect hotel to stay for a few days and then return to after a trip for some R & R.

The only good thing about the hotel is the staff: very helpful, friendly, couldn't thank them enough! The food is not bad, but lacks variety. Now the bad points (don't even know where to start): Our 'luxury' room was absolutely disgusting-very damp bathroom with a window that didn't close, all the furniture was old, the TV had only 1 channel, the phone wasn't working throughout the whole stay. Also we were promised a sea-view room, but got a pool-view room as the only way to see the sea was to stay on the actual roof on a very high chair! Also in our bathroom there was a lizard which must have lived behind a mirror and climbed out every evening. When we complained to a cleaner, he got
very surprised and said: Don't worry, it doesn't bite! The beach is very close to the hotel but full of rubbish. The management organised a NY beach party for us which we didn't go to and only had an early dinner which we were entitled for, but the boss still charged us full price for the party which we found very unfair! To make things worse, they started building a fence around the pool on the 1st of January at 7am!!!!! The noise was unbearable and it kept going on every morning since that. But the main problem was the boss! He is the most unpleasant and the rudest person I have ever met! And not only towards his guests, but also towards his staff! Every time there was a problem, he would
turn mean and nasty, and would refuse to help! Would not recommend to anyone, totally agree with all the bad reviews!

There was nothing delux about the delux room we were staying in and if I had been a backpacker, I may have found it adequate. there were no tea/coffee facilities, the bathrooms were just damp, humid and full of mosquitos (this could have been rectified even with a small fan), the floors were not clean and the noise in this hotel was ridiculous. The first soft drink we had in the restaurant was served in a glass that looked like it had been used to collect rain water in over the past year - this did not give us any confidence for the food. The beach was vast and long with golden sands and a fair bit of rubbish. We left this hotel a day early and naturally, we were charged for the whole stay; this also says something about hotel Wunderbar. Not for families - back packers only, although I suspect it is too expensive for backpackers and definitely not worth the money.

I really like this hotel. It is situated near the ocean, sunbeds and towels are free. We booked a standart room and it was very big and comfortable. Wi-fi is available on the whole territory of the hotel.

What i din't like: the beach is not very clean, we were in this hotel for 5 days and all this time there were bottles and other rubbish near our sunbeds.
