“Our home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2012 NEW

This was our 4th visit to Sofitel Phokeethra Krabi and it is easy to see they have lifted this resort to another level, if that was at all possible.

The Check In: The foyer is a sight to behold and is quite grand. A really smooth check in with welcome drinks and cold towels, as you would expect from a 5 star hotel. I did like the modern technology touch by signing the iPad and I was told this is to save paper/environment. Then we were greeted by the Guest Services Manager and not long after the General Manager, Robin, and Resident Manager, David, gave us the warmest of welcomes and it was like catching up with old friends. We were escorted to our rooms by the reception manager and our baggage not far behind.

This was low season and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to the Opera Suite. Low season pretty much means you have the resort to yourself, but the trade off is the unpredictable weather of the rainy season.

The Room: Consisted of a lounge room, a bedroom and very large bathroom. The Opera Suite has direct access to the pool. There has been several improvements since my last visit back in Novemebr 2011. Most noticeably wifi internet, although not free it's a reasonable price per day, 235 THB I think, and the flatscreen tv's with several cable channels available (not Australia TV though). The bed was comfortable and the minibar was well stocked. Hermes toiletries are also a nice touch.

The Facilities: This place has everything you need if you just want a resort holiday. The most amazing pool with swim up bar, library for kicking back and relaxing, a great happy hour in the bar which has a nice atmosphere to it, a well equipped gym and even a Pilates and Fitball studio. The Spa Complex has a very relaxing ambience to it and the new spa menu is a great addition to the resort. We had the couples package with included a 30 minute aromatherapy bath, 60 minute massage and a 90 minute facial. Finished of by relaxing with cookies and tea. Well worth the money based on the quality of products, tranquility of the surroundings and expertise of the staff.

The Food: I've never really had any problems with the food at the Sofitel, it has always been of a very high standard. Breakfast is an above average buffet with egg station, pastry/danish station, salad station, meat/deli station, asian station and juice station as well as sausages, bacon, hash browns and baked beans. Cocktails at the bar were amazing and the complimentary nibbles were a nice touch.

The Location: If you are looking for a resort holiday, swimming and laying by the pool and don't have any plan in moving from the resort then this place is where you want to stay. Ao Nang is only a 15-20 minute drive away and costs about 500 THB one way per taxi. I was aware of this when I booked so it wasn't really an issue.

The Service: I found the service here to be of the highest standard and what you would expect from a Sofitel. You almost feel as if you are part of the Sofitel family.

There is no doubt whatsoever I will return. Sooner rather than later.

Room Tip: The resort is quite spread out, therefore if you have mobility issues then a room closer to receptio...

“Just beautiful...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2012 NEW

My husband and I stayed at this hotel just for 2 nights during our tour of Thailand. It was amazing! The staff were so helpful and gave very good service! It was very quiet when we stayed there were only about 5 other families or couples around the huge pool while we were there. The pool area was just.... Gorgeous! The water and views fantastic. The hotel didn't have it's own beach but it was only just across a quiet road with staff there who could set up sun loungers and towels for you if needed. The food in all 3 restaurants in the hotel was amazing - I have never had italian food so nice before! it was all cooked fresh, we know this for certain as my husband ordered a Lasagna and it took 50 minutes (we were warned!) but it was delish!

The whole experience was heavenly and as I'd been ill in the destination before this it was a much needed rest! Unfortunately the hotel is out of the way and as we were there for only 2 nights we didn't leave the hotel grounds but I would definately stay again and stay for longer so we could see more of Krabi

“Awseome Family Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2012 NEW

Great Vacation with family (wife, 6 and 10 year old kids). Great resort for the family. The pool is simply awesome. we had a great time. The staff was excellent. The Venezia resturant is excellent with the staff going all out to make you feel at home.

Special comments for the great Indian cuisine we ate at Sofitel krabi. Thanks tot Chef Amar, the food was excellent. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay in krabi with trips to Hot spring for a dip in natural geysers and snorkeling at Hond island.

One small blemish at Sofitel, Krabi. During our swim in the pool, somehow our T shirts vanished into thin air. While going for a dip in the pool, we left our t-shirts on the pool side deck chairs. We did complain to the pool attendant, who was somewhat rude and claimed that he had seen our t-shirts and was not aware how it got picked up, he was more interested in winding up the pool for closure at 7 pm. We spoke to the front desk, who couldn't do much.

However overall a great place to stay. Definetly recommend this.

Room Tip: Go for the rooms on teh ground floor with easy access to the pool area. They have a garden sitting a...

“Beautiful Resort...Fantastic Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2012

We came here for our honeymoon in Dec 2011. Its a beautiful property and with a very hospitable staff. Few of my friends recommended this property over the nearby Sheraton and I am glad i took their advice.

We were welcomed with flower decoration and a honeymoon cake - in our room. I would have appreciated a room with a better view - but it seemed they were running at full capacity.

I stayed there for 4 days and had a wonderful time. Both the Italian Restaurant (VENEZIA) and the Thai Restaurant (White Lotus) served delicious food. I would recommend to make a reservation at the Italian place, since its usually overbooked. The breakfast spread is huge and caters to all tastes. We were not able to enjoy the pool side restaurant BBQ, since we don't eat meat. But other guests seem to enjoy that as well.

The hotel staff was really nice and courteous. The hotel manager (Robin Deb) would spend some time in the lobby chatting up with the guests and making sure we were treated well. We took the day trip to the Phi Phi Island - via the Sofitel yacht. It is more expensive than some of the options you would find at the beach, however for us the yacht turned out to be a more or less private trip with only 8-10 people on board. The butlers with us on board - made sure we were comfortable during our trip.

Over all our stay was beautiful and I would highly recommend to stay at Sofitel Krabi - great property, wonderful staff, delicious food...
