I can't believe how different my experience was from some of the recent reviewers. Right off the bat, this is a Motel 6 - it is the bargain basement motel chain - a completely 'no frills' chain. So, knowing that, it's pretty clear that you can't expect amentities like shampoo, tissue, and fridges. The skinny on this particular Motel 6:
1. Recently renovated in an ikea-like style - laminate flooring, all new bathrooms, platform beds, fresh paint. The renovated rooms look great - clean and minimalist. Just getting rid of carpet brings the hygiene factor up a few notches.
2. Staff on my trip were friendly and accommodating. The property is clearly still going through renovations - looks like the windows are being replaced on the ground floor, so there are going to be hiccups. When this happens, the desk staff is great and definitely willing to work to solve problems.
3. Location is pretty good if you're there to shop or have plans in the niagara/amherst area.
All in all, good value. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable place in an okay part of town, at a rock-bottom price, then this is the place for you. If you want a more full-service place, be prepared to pay an extra $20 or $30 per night.
