Hello, we made a last minute reservation through a 3rd party and stayed here for a night last weekend.
During the reservation I was asked who the second person would be, I gave a name, and was then asked whether she was my wife !!! I was shocked and due to language gap I said she is Japanese and he then said is she a visitor etc, and if so we have to charge more. But if she is your family then no extra charge. As she was my wife I said so at that point although thought this was rather wierd.
I asked for a non smoking room and got it. Room was okay, they all have garden views and I was on the 6th floor which was good.
Nice lobby cafe with good coffee and Japanese sweets. Onsen is great. Nice outdoor roten .. big! Sauna too.
We had buffet option for both dinner and breakfast. Buffet is a bit like being shepherded in and out in a big crowd and the food is so-so but there is a lot of variety and you can eat well. Just not the healthiest perhaps. but the steak has 3-4 sauces. Sushi was thinnest slices I have seen. Glass wine for 600yen was terrible so get beer instead.
Brekkie buffet is a bit better, nice Japanese okayu and few other options as well as the usual Western Scramble and toast, etc. Coffee.
Overall, its a big hotel, a bit dated, not much English spoken except for at checkin. Service is spotty at buffet but very good at the lobby cafe.
Nice garden out front of the hotel.
I guess I'd stay there only if all other options in the same price range (26k or 28k for 2 is moderate and lots of options in this range..) are full.
Hope this review helps some travellers.
Room Tip: ask for higher floor, non smoking, fullsize bed
