“A different type of safari.”

Wouldn't go back due to the lack of game to view on the safaris, which was my main reason for visiting Africa.

Pros:
Food was great. Even had dinner one night in a cave which was fun.

Nice view of Mt Kilamajaro

Very safe

Owners and staff are very friendly

Nice rooms

Options to hike or run with a guide with nice views of greenery and rolling hills

Owners have a charitable foundation and part of the accommodation fee goes to the surrounding Masai villages for running water and schools for example.

Cons:

Lack of game - saw only 2 lions in 5 days and no other cats. Mostly see antelope-type game and some birds. Didn't see elephants either. Go to Masai Mara if you want to see large game.

“A dream trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

I spent several extraordinary days at Campi Ya Kanzi in October and it was everything I had expected and more. The lodge was like something out of a safari photo book, the food was fresh and well prepared, and we saw every animal we hoped to spot. It was a dream trip, and I had so many "pinch me, I must be dreaming" moments: making eye contact with a lion; sundowners with Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance; hiking with a Maasai warrior as my tracker and guide... A few things made this camp really special:

- Owners Luca and Antonella - along with Samson and the rest of the Maasai staff - went to great lengths to accommodate our desires and schedules. It felt like they were partners in our journey, which added immeasurably to our experience. They also happen to be hilarious and really knowledgeable, so I thoroughly enjoyed their company!
- Since Campi Ya Kanzi is integrally involved with the Maasai community, we learned about the Maasai culture, traditions and history in addition to learning about the land, animals and ecology. Visiting the Maasai school and clinic were highlights.
- Every aspect of the camp was planned with an eye toward conservation. By staying at Campi Ya Kanzi I know we helped the Maasai people to protect their heritage and land.

I hope to return before long!

“Experience of a Lifetime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Last month I spent almost a week at Campi ya Kanzi and it was absolutely a trip of a lifetime! From the arranged pickup at our hotel to meet our group at Wilson airport in Nairobi until we were dropped back off for our flight to return home to the US, everything was perfect!

The impeccable planning and attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Luca, Antonella, Samson and the rest of the CyK team ensured we were all always having the best possible experience, catering the schedule each day to each individual's needs/interests.

The tents were awesome (luxurious while still feeling authentic), food was SO delish, we saw tons of animals including a surprise spotting on a leopard one afternoon, and the hikes, views and visits to the Maasai village were priceless. Def went overboard buying beads from the local women :)

I cannot wait to go back again!

“A fantastic experience based on a great concept which compares very well to other top level safari camps”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011 via mobile

We stayed at Campi ya Kanzi after being at very good camps in Kruger & the Okavanga Delta. Experiencing Campi ya Kanzi's unique location & partnership with the local Maasai was an ideal way to conclude our safari. We saw an abundance of animals including up-close experiences with several prides of lions as well as giraffe, zebra, hyena, jackal, elephants and many antelope species. One highlight was the ability to go on walks with the Maasai guides including into the Cloud Forest of the Chyulu Hills. We also visited a local village and school which was a nice experience.Accommodation is first class, the Italian food cooked by the maasai chefs is excellent and the team of people led by Luca (Antonella was in Italy) gave us first class service.Ken & Jenny Henderson, Melbourne , Australia

“Unbelievable”

What a fantastic memorable experience. Luca and Antonella are wonderful hosts. The staff is fantastic. The real joy was getting out of the jeep and hiking the area. We saw a ton of animals and there is no one who knows the local flora, fauna, and animals more than Luca. Great food and accommodations.
