We booked the hotel through a website called Agoda. There was no mention of a boat let alone times. We missed the 10:30 am boat and had to pay 350 one way and payed the 95 for the return. The island is absolutely gorgeous.The hotel pool was a gross colour. You couldn't pay me to dip my feet in. Weeds and grass grew between the patio stones. The staff are friendly. The food was o.k. There were red ants in the bathroom. We asked to switch rooms which should not have been a problem seeing as there were only two other couples at the resort. Instead they sent someone to spray. It didn't solve the problem. We also had beetles and some kind of worm. Miskitos buzzong kept us awake until we couldn't stand it anymore and tried to kill them in the middle of the night. We used toilet paper to block the holes where we think them came in. We spend most of our time at other hotel.They have a beautiful beach area, a bar, free wireless and very friendly staf,

if you are sick of five star and not brave enough to go camping- this is it. Far prettier than Bintan. Other reviews describe the rooms as basic- of course they are- who would spend time in the room anyway- stunning beaches with crystal clear water and cheap as chips. A heavenly escape from label land Singapura. Perfect for a one or two night getaway. We booked on arrival at Mersing at one of the travel agents near the jetty and caught the boat an hour later across to the island. RM 280 / SGD 110 per person for one night, all meals, return boat trip. Food was good. Great unwind and back in singapore before sunset sunday night- tanned and relaxed. Plan to do regularly. Take Mosquito repellant. PS - staff were very friendly.

The island is really beautiful with nice beaches and clear blue water.
The hotel on the other hand was not good at all. We have been travelling a lot and visited other islands in Malaysia, but this hotel was not at all what we expected.
- The swimming pool is very dirty. We could not use it. It looks like it has not been cleaned thoroughly in years
- The rooms are large, but can use some renovation. They make you depressive. In the standard rooms you have a carpet with stains. In the bathroom we found cockroaches. Some positive points are the aircon and the hot shower.
- On the website you'll see things that are not existing in reality: there are no sunbeds at the swimming pool and not at the beach.
- When you would like to order drinks, they often don't have many of the drinks listed in the menu. I understand that on these islands it might be difficult to have everything, but in the other hotels they do have it.

The staff is friendly and they'll help you if you have questions, but it is just a pity that the hotel is kept in this condition.

For these reasons we think this hotel is overpriced. If you would like to visit Besar Island, the Aseania Hotel (next to D'Coconut) is a better option.

Bad review:-
- Extra bed was broken.
- Termite all over the toilet door.
- The toilet condition was so filthy, the door and mosaic was broken.
- Blanket was torn.
- There was no chair at the dressing table.
- The room was a bit dusty.
- There is no hanger and kettle in the room.
- No mini bar.
- Food variety very limited.
- There wasn't any umbrella when needed.
- The sofa in TV room all are in bad shape.
- There were no worker at the water sport.
- Not enough of sundeck chair on the beach area.
- Swimming pool was very dirty.
- A lot of old furniture at the lobby.
- Paid for snorkel package but had the jungle tracking package instead, that was very
frustrating and disappointing.
