“Value for money if you don't mind noisy music after midnight”

We stayed 3D2N at Grand Hallmark Hotel. First impression was the location quite ideal coz lots of restaurants nearby and you don't have to worry can't get any food! Staffs was friendly and overall the environment is good.
once we stepped into the room, it's reasonable for the money we paid, but we really can't stand the cigarette smell although I'm a casual smoker, you can just imagine that. Another drawback is that I guess most of the room doesn't have windows, so you probably feel unsecured with the safety consideration.
You can get cold, warm and hot water supply at the lobby area each floor. Yeah besides, this if you can't sleep with noisy sound, my 2 nights stay comes with disco music and karaoke till around 2a.m.

“Value for price.”

I'm staying for 2 nights for this hotel, the hotel staff is ok and the lift is a bit small due of this is a shop lot hotel. The room 1st impresion is in my expectation small and clean but I requested for non smoking floor but still got smell. The water heater is good in order, Lighting is ok.

1st night was ok to sleep peaceful but 2nd night can hear the shower and toilet pump noisy sounds from next room in the wee hour.

Will recommen if you just need a place to sleep and not asking for more.

“Good for the price”

The hotel looks relatively new, so everything's in pretty good condition, clean and the beds were comfy. The room has aircon, cable tv, toilet with hotwater and toiletries. The only problems were that there was a faint smell of cigarette smoke lingering in the room when we arrived and the room has no windows, whch is a potential fire hazard. Breakfast is also not included, but there's lots of places for food nearby.

Location of the hotel is good, there are lots of places for cheap and good meals nearby, massage centres and pubs. But because it's located directly on the stretch with the pubs, we could still hear the noise and music even though our room had no windows and the ruckus goes on till late at night! And because of that, the other hotel patrons were predominently male and I reckon Singapore or local men there to enjoy the drinking and partying.

Jusco Aeon is a short drive away, but I'm not so sure about the ease or availability of local transport. A point to note is that the hotel do not have it's own parking. They do station a security guard to watch the lots directly in front of their building, but we did not manage to get a lot there and had to park slightly further away, so if you're driving a new car, this is something to consider.

The walls are also a little thin, so it is almost impossible to sleep in if you have noisy neighbours. Overall, the staff were friendly and honestly, I do not know the going rate for a night's stay in JB. So for RM$98, I thought it was a pretty decent price to pay for the standard, but I might try my luck at other places in future.
