Very limited choice of buffet breakfast, not even a bacon!
Room is big, but old design and smell of tobacco.

location is not bad. 10 mins walk to the mall and eating street.

We chose this hotel mainly of its location, which is almost right next to City Square......... We stayed here for 2N to attend a cousin's wedding (not held in the hotel).....so we thought we might be able to squeeze in some shopping while staying here...
Check in was smooth and fast.......and the kind receptionist upgraded us to a room with one king bed and one single bed upon seeing our boy with us...... (Our booking was for a room with 2 single beds only).. We were pleasantly surprised and grateful....
Our boy was elated upon entering a room........ He loved his bed! The room is spacious and comfortable.....Undeniably, the furniture is dated and in need of an overhaul but we find no major flaws....... The bathroom comes with a bathtub and separate shower as well.....
All in all, we will stay here again if we come to Johor the next time.......

Its a pretty old hotel. I first thought it was affliated to Pan Pacific due to the similar name. The sanitary fittings are branded but very worn out. Everything from towels to doors are very old. However overall, the room is considered clean given that its so old. I appreciate the big window.

Location wise its great. It comes with parking space and its near to JB sentral. Don't walk back to the hotel, especially at night. Always take a cab and fares are cheap.

The staffs are pretty efficient and friendly and will call for a cab for you. Note that the cab charge additional RM 2 for booking fee.

I had stayed here before way back in 2007 and it was quite a nice place. So when I wanted to house a big travelling party, it made sense to book in at the Puteri.

As I am no blind mouse, I agree with the immediate past reviews, that the hotel deserves and up-grade, especially that its monthly turnover should easily exceed RM1.0 million (desk top calculation).

Complaints:
1. The room walls are so thin, you could hear next room.
2. Room 1128, the shower door was left to break down with water from the shower could spill out to the vanity area.
3. It has a baby grand but two nights I was there, there was no band present at the Lounge. C'mon, even a 2 duo would not be as bad.
4. Aging
5. Overcrowding Newsroom Cafe.

Pluses:
1. Good value, for a port just next to Singapore.
2. In the city, so, in the scheme of things, you should not get lost.
3. Staff - friendly enough with concierge very helpful.
4. Swimming pool is child friendly.

We stayed there 3 nights, and we have no other complaints. Will try Thistle next!
