i and my officemate checked into the Desa Motel in Langkawi earlier this month and found the place to be small and cosy. Its owner was a very friendly affable gentleman who also happens to live in one of the units (total of 8 units). As it was the fasting month, there were no other guests at first but the homely ambience put us at ease. There are beautiful plants planted and cared for lovingly in the centre of the area, dividing the units into 4 apiece. Its very near to Pantai Cenang which is a hub of activity but far enough to ensure peace and quiet. The room itself is basic but has a decent shower and heater. However for the price we paid, it was good value for money. The towels could do with some improvement and there's no breakfast provided but as it was within walking distance to Pantai Cenang, it was not a problem. The beach nearby is more secluded and peaceful. I would recommend Desa Motel for its quiet ambience, unpretentiousness, good value for budget travellers and its homey surroundings.
