“Quite Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2012

The resort is very well maintained but a little outdated. On the same note it's nice to see a hotel with an actual authentic look and not completely modern. The rooms were overall very nice, and welcoming but the staff needs to do a better job with cleanliness. That's my only real negative about the resort. Their pools, kids club, restaurants, and recreation areas were all maintained very well and what you would expect for a Westin. The staff was friendly, and most remembered our names after just being told once. We had no problem settling in at the pool each day and... well... relaxing! It seemed like it was so quiet and tranquil. The views are stunning. My young daughter enjoyed the kids club quite a bit! They made crafts, watched cartoons, played with toys and colored on a tee shirt that she could keep as her own. The caregiver was absolutely wonderful and great with kids. It was a perfect family get away without being overcome with tourism like some other beach get aways in South East Asia. If we were to return to Langkawi again we would absolutely stay with this Westin again. We appreciated their kind, welcoming, and ready to serve attitudes!

Dear Meleliz1321,
Thank you for sharing your experience during your stay in Tripadvisor. I am delighted to know you had a comfortable and pleasant stay. It’s wonderful to know that you enjoyed our peaceful location. I am always proud to agree on the beauty of the resort, our resort is beautifully located with the stunning scenery yet we are just few minutes away from the main town. I am concerned to note that the level of cleanliness did not meet your expectations. I have addressed this with my housekeeping team to improve it immediately. We appreciate your nice comments about the great location and our recreation facilities. Thank you for the kind comment about the friendly and helpful services by our associates. I'm glad to hear that they made you feel good. My team and I at The Westin Langkawi look forward to welcoming you back for another renewing stay.

“A place to relax and recharge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2012

Our family recently spent five nights at the Westin Langkawi. It was a relaxing and enjoyable vacation thanks to the friendly staffs who provided excellent service.

On the day of our arrival, we booked a hotel car and were picked up at the airport promptly. Driving to the resort took about 30 mins. The driver was courteous and introduced to us sights along the way. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were quickly checked in and upgraded to an oceanfront suite.

Thoroughout our stay, we were impressed by the friendly/helpful attitude of the staff who are geniune and unpretentious. They went out of their way to meet our requests and deserved a big thank you.

If there is one thing about the hotel that may need improvement, it would be the F&B. Breakfast was excellent with many choices. However, lunch and dinner options were somewhat limited and I had to scratch my head hard to find a quality restaurant (in or outside of the hotel) which serves authentic local Malay food (we had a lot of expectations, unfortunately). There are many restaurants serving western cuisines, but not exactly what came to Malaysia for. Neither did we try the night markets as we have a young child and did not want to risk it.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a laid back vacation in Langkawi.

“lovely hotel, but the staff made it brilliant !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2012

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here last july.
The hotel itself is beautiful, the location is amazing , the 3 pools are jsut out of this world , especially the rock pool.
The breeze louge has entertainmetn every night , a really great 3 piece female singing band , really good fun.
The food was great and the cocktails were the best we ever had, a little expensive but as we were on honey moon we didnt mind.
The staff helped make our holiday for us , especailly in the breeze lounge they were brilliant, every night we drank there and they were great fun whilst still providing a first class professional service and again i have to mention the cocktails, just the best!!
In the breakfast room they couldnt do enough for you , and every morning we got the seated right at the window over looking the pool and the sea , just amazing !
The one and only thing that i could fault was the rooms.
Ours was right on the ground level and wasnt maintained too well, i did find a few creepy crawlies in our room , which doesnt bother most people but unfortunetly really bothered me.
That said it was the one and only flaw with the hotel , we may have just had bad luck with our room , as the common areas of the hotel ( all pools , bars , restaurants etc ) was spotless and very well maintained .

Room Tip: when choosing your room , pay the extra for a sea view ,you get a room on a higher floor and with a...

“Great from the outside disaster from the inside”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

The resort itself is very old but well maintained. When you look at the lobby you say wow this looks nicer BUT once you enter the room ours was 2402 you get very dissappointed very fast specially when you look at the bathroom.

I came here with my wife to have a getaway and relaxing break away from the noise of a busy city. Well we did get away from the noise of the traffic and instead has the noise coming from the corridor from the swinging doors which lead to the reception and from the live entertainment combing from the breeze lounge. So we actually ended up in worst shape then we started off with due to the noise and sleepless nights thanks Westin! and it isn't cheap either. I did try to change the room but as expected from the inexperienced and unprofessional staff I go no positive reply.

As for the service well its almost inexistant they are very slow and late when it comes to housekeeping this could be the worst i have experienced until now. Let me give you an example we left hour room an 10am went for a swim came back at 3pm room not cleaned to towels called the "express service" asking for towels urgently took 30 mins thats after 3 calls! they lied and told me the do no disturb was on the door which wasn't I also tried to get hold of the manager at first they refused to connect me until I made a scene in the reception and waited around for 20 mins they sent me the housekeeping manager who i refused to speak with so they asked me to wait more and sent me the front office manager who really did not bother to do anything. The reason i went crazy and asked for the manager was not because the towels didn't come nor because I could not sleep from the noise nor because the service is terrible but because one of there customer service agents whose name is sylvia raised her voice at me!! Can you imagine a hotel employee "services industry" raising her voice at a guest who has spend $2700 in her hotel in 4 nights what a shame!

As for service from the pool waiters its very bad I even sensed they where racist! I got the same feeling from the waiters in the breakfast restaurant (Mr.Hero was his name) on the egg station.

It really was an unpleasant stay I rather go where my money is welcomed this will be my last stay and that old run down hotel with rude staff.

I can go on but this is enough writing more is a waste of time.......

People tell me I always set the expectations high but how I look at it for the price I pay I expect quality in return which this hotel is just not capable of delivering.

Room Tip: Deluxe see view room high floor
