We stayed here for 7 nights and spent 2 nights in the Sunset 1 room and 5 nights in the Sunset 3 room. Both rooms were fine, functional. Good for the price at Chinese New Year which was an expensive time to be on the island. The breakfast is very basic, toast, juice, some fruit, 2 types of corn flakes and they will also do you scrambled / friend eggs or an omelet which was ok. One thing that they could improve on is the cleaning of the rooms. Being right on the beach, by the end of the day there is sand in the room and when it was cleaned everyday, there was still sand on the floors and in the sheets. Apart from that, it is a good place to stay with helpful and cheerful staff.

Just came back from Langkawi and I had the most pleasant stay at the Sunset Beach Resort, Cenang Beach, Langkawi. Stayed there for 3 nights although I would have wished to have stayed there the whole duration I was in Langkawi but they were fully booked.
Check-in was a breeze and friendly. However, do not expect concierge or a porter to help you with your luggage, but that did not bother me as it is essentially a budget-basic resort. The layout of the resort was very nice, and homely with lots of plants and trees. It instantly gave a soothing feeling of being in paradise.
The room was very clean. The bed was quite comfortable and the fridge (which is one of the most important thing in Langkawi for all you drinkers to keep the beer and wine chilled!!) was working very well. Could easily keep about 3-4 bottles of wine chilled all the time and it made ice too!! Do not expect to watch anything entertaining on TV as it only has 3 channels on it. The aircond (important especially on hot days) was working very well and kept the room cool especially in the afternoon.
The bathroom was well laid out with the basic hot water shower and only cold water (or hot water during the afternoon) wash basin. Important thing, the bathroom and toilet was very clean.
Breakfast was basic with all-you-can-eat toast, cornflakes, fruits and coffee/tea with a set of 2 eggs and a glass of orange juice.
Overall, Sunset Beach Resort is the place to stay in Cenang Beach, Langkawi.

Back again for a week's escape from KL to Sunset Beach. Whether its the really friendly staff who always work on first name terms or the cozy rooms and well tended garden I am not sure, but Sunset Beach Resort always has a homely feel for us. A great location, clean, simple but reasonable value rooms and a warm welcome are the pluses. The only minuses, perhaps a few more sunloungers with thicker mattresses would be a good idea, and please no more half chicken sausage garnish for breakfast...We always feed ours to the plump resident cat.

Sunset Beach Resort is quite different from most resorts one is used to. For one it is very minimalistic. There's a tv, but with three channels, all of them regional! Heck you gotta buy your own water. So then why would you want to stay in this resort?

Because its so cozy, you get to live in these small huts, surrounded with lush green gardens. The caretakers (three ladies) know you by name. You got your own private beach area where you can laze out in the night and its gotta very comforting price tag to it. Because sometimes all you want is a space to breathe and not be overwhelmed with technology and the high life.

I would recommend a couple of nights stay in this resort to any couple...who want to be just left alone :)
