Our original booking for a 2 bedroomed bungalow, turned out to be an apartment on the 4th floor of an outlying building - no lift/elevator, so quite a hike. We arrived in pouring rain after
an easy drive from KL just before Chinese New Year. The apartment was a disaster both to look at and to smell. It was very shabby, with little furniture, and what there was was very heavily stained with I know not what! There was a green mold/fungus growing on the wall of the sitting room and a most appalling smell in the bathrooms. My wife, quite correctly, asked the bell boys to remove our luggage immediately back to the reception area. We were sympathetically listened to and the check-in clerk said that an upgrade suite was available at no extra charge in the main wing. The accommodation while not startling was clean and adequate though with hard beds and noisy neighbours across the hallway. But everything worked and the shower was particularly good. We enjoyed an excellent "Steamboat" at the Golden Phoenix restaurant and breakfast was also very good with a wide variety of choice from typical malay cuisine, arab specialities, chinese fry-ups and of course the full British Breakfast - though I think the sausages were made of turkey or chicken! Wi-Fi only seemed to be available in the lobby, and service was intermittent to say the least. staff were alll very pleasant and well motivated but the hotel looks a bit sad and ragged at the edges.
