“Nice hotel in a good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

The room was big but COLD. I didn't mind it that much but I have large temperature tolerance (at least in the low temp zone) - but even I felt it was a bit cold so most people would probably feel it very/uncomfortably cold. There is no heater (you usually don't need a heater in Malaysia, but it's highlands and it's getting cold at nights). There is also no aircon which you could use in heat mode.

Other than that it was fine and the look was nice. Staff was friendly. WIFI worked fine but was available at the lobby ony.

Location is great, just three to five minutes to restaurants. Tanah Rata is a really small place.

Breakfast buffet was below average with little choice of western food. The second day there was no buffet and it was a'la carte.

“Total rubbish”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012 via mobile

Initially the staffs are so damn scary! He was peeking at my husband's wallet! The breakfast was totally yucky and gross! The bedsheets and towels are full of stains! We stayed 3 nights and they did not even change our bedsheets?! Bathtub is only for display?! I mean seriously, whats the point putting up a bathtub for nothing? Not to mention they put a sign to warn the guess not to use the bathtub! The staffs keep staring like they wanna eat us! I did not enjoy our holiday! Their bathroom smells like cockroach!

“Expensive, shabby, but good location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We paid about £90 a night for a suite, which is by far the most we paid anywhere in Malaysia. There isn't much choice in the Cameron Highlands that can be booked over the Internet (but I think there is much more that can be booked when you get there). The entrance hall is grand, as was the room itself, but the place was shabby and probably used to be a much better hotel. We had a duplex suite which had an enormous bed, stairs and 2 bathrooms with lots of marble everywhere. The staff are pleasant but generally uninterested.

The location is great. It is very close to the centre of the town, and we had two wonderful walks from the hotel (Jungle walks 4 and 9).

“Not as good as it looks”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

I stayed here for three nights in the beginning of January. At first I thought the hotel looked quite nice, like a real resort. As soon as we got to the room my impression changed.

Room: COLD! I was freezing the entire time I was there. There was no way of controlling the temperature, except for opening or closing the windows (neither helped in my case). I guess they think cold rooms is a good thing (I saw another hotel bragging about having the coldest rooms in town), but it's not such a good thing when it's raining outside and you need a place to warm up afterwards. My boyfriend even had to admit that the room was too cold, and he usually never complains about anything.
The rooms are spacious.

Bathroom: I was very happy to see that we had a bathtub. At least I could take a hot bath to restore my body temperature, I thought. Then I noticed there was no plug and there was a sign saying "Shower only. No dipping baths". I almost felt like crying. The toilet was in a seperate room inside the bathroom, and the floor in there was always completely wet. Those slippers in the closet are there for a reason.

Wifi: Free of charge. Ask the reception for the password. Does not work in the rooms though. You need to sit in the far end of the lobby near the restaurant or in the restaurant.

Breakfast: The omelette was good enough. No cold water! They only provide hot water for making tea. I had to ask the staff for cold water every day. They gave me cold water with ice just once. One time I was given hot water with ice... What kind of hotel does not provide cold drinking water for breakfast? This one.

Service: When we first arrived to check in, they could not find our reservation. We did not feel very welcome. Once they finally found our reservation, they suddenly got a lot more friendly. They even apologized that we had to wait 10 more minutes before our room was ready, even though we had already waited in the lobby for more than half an hour.

Location: The location is one of the few things I can't complain about.

I sat in the lobby a lot while being online. The staff was always very busy decorating for Chinese New Year. They decorated and decorated the entire time we were there. I just wish they had spent as much time improving the hotel in more important ways.

Overall this hotel is okay if you're not expecting much, but I would not stay there again.

“Fantastic Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Century Pines is a great hotel located just at the end of Tanah Rata. Our deluxe room on the top floor was big and roomy. Not sure if the room was remodelled recently but it looked very nice with old world design. The hotel lobby is also fantastic.
The breakfast and food in general was very average and a bit overpriced but the fact that it takes just 2 mins walking to reach the Tanah Rata main road means that there are tons of great options.

Room Tip: Garden facing rooms have nice view.
