“Old, Noisy But Clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2010

Was supposed to stay here for 2 nights but check out the next day when we found a better alternative nearby for our 2nd night.

(1) Old hotel (as per hotel reception, it is more than 10 y/o). Old furniture in the room. However we did notice the paint on the wall and ceiling are rather new.
(2) Bad drainage in bathroom - after shower, the whole floor area got wet and it took a while for the water to drain out and to dry out.
(3) Mould on some parts in the toilet and its door frame.
(4) Noisy - there is a coach operator just next to the hotel and as early as 6am, your can hear the noisy engine running from the buses.
(5) Limited TV channels.
(6) No internet services/wifi.

Despite the above the room is clean and the located in the midst of many choices of restaurants and shops.

“Bare basic - You'll only use the room to rest and clean up yourself”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

I was traveling in a group of 5 so we booked a twin-sharing room at MYR148 and a triple-sharing at MYR168. We called the hotel direct line to make our bookings and made deposits via bank transfer. If you plan to call, ask for Miss Liew. She's very friendly and informative. Our sole purpose is photography adventure (taking photographs) so we only use the room for sleeping and bath - meaning most of the time we were not in our rooms.

They supply clean towel, soap and shower cap. If you need other toiletries, you can buy them at a mini-mart (200 meters uphill from the hotel entrance). They have two drinking glasses and a flask for hot water. HOWEVER, to get drinking water you have to go to the first floor(there are 4 floors in total) where there is a water dispenser. The water dispenser supplies both hot and cold water. There is no tea of coffee making facilities in the room. There is a 14 inch TV but you can only view two local government run stations - RTM1 and RTM2. There are NO elevators - ONLY STAIRS.

They don't provide breakfast but there are plenty of restaurants around the block (Fast food joint - KFC is opposite the hotel). There is a gas station near by (right next to KFC) The night market is a major attraction with local traders plying their trade right in front of the police station. Which is about 500 meters from the hotel. Personally I find it better to have my meals at KFC or the night market (for dinner) than the restaurants because the restaurants charge at exorbitant prices and far more expensive.

IF you happen to be there on a weekends / school holiday / public holiday - be prepared to see long queue of cars. Traffic jams are common during these times and tourist hot spots like the Boh Tea plantation and Kea Farm Market (right next to Equatorial Hotel) can be a grid lock. The very reason is because the entire road from Tapah to Blue Valley (Entire Cameron to be exact) is a two lane traffic while some smaller roads are single lanes! It's not big enough to accommodate such an influx of tourist. But the good thing is that the hotel staffs are aware of such problems during peak seasons, they don't mind if you checking out (or in) late. Just remember to inform them if you are stuck at traffic.

“Basic clean accomodation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2009

- We were looking for a nice hotel to stay in during our visit to the Cameron Highlands. The day we arrived the whole area was packed with people. The larger resorts out of town were way to expensive, obviously overcharging due to the school break. The only large hotel in town was full. So we found this small hotel near the main parking lot of the town, where there are many 2 star hotels. We had looked at others before taking this one. The others we saw were often dirty and not at all pleasant. The Parkland was clean and in a good location, with ample parking in front in the municipal lot.
- The room was small with a window that looked out to a garden. The room was what we expected from a two star – very basic. The shower drained on the bathroom floor. The hotel did not provide breakfast.
- While the rate was reasonable, this hotel was not our first choice. But it provided basic accommodation at a reasonable price for one night.
- We were very disappointed with the Cameron Highlands. Too many cars, people, too touristy. The Boh tea plantation was fine. The tour though was only 5 minutes – they seemed much more interested in selling their products than in explaining tea production. The scenery here is quite pleasant. Brinchang did have a very good night market with plenty of interesting food stalls.
- We left the Highlands after only one night. We had planned on three. Not really impressed with the towns or the crowding, we moved on to the east coast instead.
