Stayed 2 nights here and we had no complaints. It is not as central as some other hotels, but it was still walkable for us.

Stayed there for a couple of nights within a 2 week asian trip. When we arrived we were given a smoking horrible stained room]they quickly changed that and then the room was good quality with all functional well. bed was comfy, and shower had good power.

the breakfast has a selection of hot/cold dishes which are good quality also

the hotel is functional, as it is 15 min from the main visiting area although we were not impressed by george town, there is not much to see apart from small unesco heritage site, and towers are beeing built changing the skyline.

for food, there is a very good foodcourt 10 min away of the hotel towards Lebuh leith (red garden foodcourt). there is a fish restaurant, Ocean green, 5 min walk north of the hotel along Jalah Sultan Ahmad Shah were you can get good seefood and look at the sea

the national park is 45 min away with a bus which is almost at the front of the hotel

Stayed at Hotel Royal Penang at January 2012.Check in at the reception was smooth and the hotel elevator was fast! :D My family and I got a room at floor 17 and the sea view was really clear.The buffet breakfeast was okay.The room is well furnished with some furniture.The toilet is very very clean and it is spacious.It is very near to Penang Plaza.Just go to first floor and there is a door that is connected to it.There is a free shutle bus service to Gurney Plaza which is so convenient:D This hotel is VALUR FOR MONEY.I had a really pleasent stay at this hotel:D

Room and interiors quite average. TV is old type 18 inch, with fuzzy screen.My bathroom door can be closed but can not be locked. Bathtub with wall fixed shower only. But don't worry hot water is available. Toiletries quite standard. One of the wardrobe door can not be opened. The rest of items in the room working fine. Buffet breakfast is so so. Small swimming pool only for children and it can get overcrowded. If you drive your own car, there is a one level basement car park, with a very limited space. If you're not lucky, then you have to park outdoor beside the hotel in Penang Plaza. RM5 flat per entry provided the parking ticket is chopped by the hotel lobby otherwise hourly rate will apply. Worst scenario you might have to park outdoor overnight around KFC accross the hotel.
