“Lovely hotel close to Kota Kinabalu”

We stayed here for 5 nights on our honeymoon in early feb 2012. We had booked an ocean facing room in the tanjung aru wing, however when we checked in, it was in the lower floor around the back with minimal views, so we upgraded to a suite room for an extra 400 ringgt per night which was on the top floor overlooking the sunset bar and included Kinabalu club room benefits. It was a great room, very big and had an extra large balcony with sun loungers which we used everyday. We also went to the club most nights for the cocktail hour and enjoyed the complimentary wine which was lovely (we found it hard to find nice wine anywhere else on the trip!) The buffet breakfast here is very good, simply huge as is the dinner buffet which we also enjoyed one night. The sunset bar is really good too, but you must get there about an hour before the sun sets to get the good seats. Also had a facial at the day spa which was about $100 AUD, expensive for Malaysia however it was a great treatment the setting in the day spa is just stunning. We found Kota Kinabalu itself to be quite hard to explore and didn't really offer much for us. We did have one great night out at an Italian restaurant
called Grazie which was delicious and really affordable. We also went to Rasa Ria to see the Orang Utans and can highly recommend it. Overall we had a really great time at the hotel but it was a bit on the expensive side, and Kota Kinabalu didn't offer us much as a destination.

Room Tip: Tanjung Aru wing ocean facing is the way to go

“Fantastic Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2012

Great hotel in its own grounds but only a 5 minute drive from town centre. Hotel facilities were great, couldn't fault the food, staff or amenities. Would certainly recommend. Orang Utang sanctuary at Rasa Ria well worth a visit.

“Ahh...Sunset Bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012 via mobile

This hotel was amazing. I had a room with an ocean view that overlooked the putting green. Great balcony area that allowed for relaxation and views of the sunset. Room was clean and I loved the bathroom.
The pool area was incredible. Great views and an amazing infinity pool. The restaurant by the pool also served really good food.
The best part was definitely the sunset bar. During the day they have lounge cushions around the perimeter that offered views that definitely felt like you were in a tropical paradise. During the evening we enjoyed many happy hours and beautiful sunsets.
I would highly recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

“Excellent choice if you are travelling with kids, and don't want to travel long distance from airport.”

Overall hotel is very nice. There are some water activities for the whole family (small water park and waterwars). Rooms are very tidy and spacious. Pool outside has an amazing view. On the territory, there is also enough space for everyone to lie down, relax and enjoy quite atmosphere as if no one was around. There are also a good choice of restaurants an bars on the site. I mostly admired the one on the pier with sea view and comfortable seats to enjoy it. However, towards the sunset moscitos start to attack you. I recommend that ppl use anti moscitos spray or smth. As for the food, it was excellent with a good variety and prices are reasonable. I personally loved the buffet. On the site there are also a lot of different activities that you can do, including an amazingly looking spa, but prices there are way too high. Talking about dislikes, I think the one that might disappoint you is that beach is tiny there, and water isn't clear. To sum up I think that with this hotel you can't go wrong!

This hotel is sensational, location staff and overall experience amazing. It has the most spectacular view overlooking the islands, sunsets are divine. It is the best family holiday ever, kids club activities are sensational as are adults activities. Could not recommend highly enough.

Room Tip: The best rooms for family are ground floor located near kids club in the tanjung wing, opposite slid...
