We stayed here for 5 nights on our honeymoon in early feb 2012. We had booked an ocean facing room in the tanjung aru wing, however when we checked in, it was in the lower floor around the back with minimal views, so we upgraded to a suite room for an extra 400 ringgt per night which was on the top floor overlooking the sunset bar and included Kinabalu club room benefits. It was a great room, very big and had an extra large balcony with sun loungers which we used everyday. We also went to the club most nights for the cocktail hour and enjoyed the complimentary wine which was lovely (we found it hard to find nice wine anywhere else on the trip!) The buffet breakfast here is very good, simply huge as is the dinner buffet which we also enjoyed one night. The sunset bar is really good too, but you must get there about an hour before the sun sets to get the good seats. Also had a facial at the day spa which was about $100 AUD, expensive for Malaysia however it was a great treatment the setting in the day spa is just stunning. We found Kota Kinabalu itself to be quite hard to explore and didn't really offer much for us. We did have one great night out at an Italian restaurant
called Grazie which was delicious and really affordable. We also went to Rasa Ria to see the Orang Utans and can highly recommend it. Overall we had a really great time at the hotel but it was a bit on the expensive side, and Kota Kinabalu didn't offer us much as a destination.
