This little hotel is right across the street from the lovely Kuching waterfront and the old shops that are fun to browse are right along that same street and in the streets behind the hotel. What makes it fun is the location and also this sense of staying in a place with local charm. Now that sometimes is code for this place isn't so good. ;-) In this case the lobby, and the outside too, has lots of dark woods in use. It has a staircase that is open to the sky which mean that this wood staircase gets wet when it rains. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are buses available that stop right at the hotel daily to provide transport to local attractions. The rooms are simple and basic but comfortable. And it comes with a simple breakfast. Plus the price is very good. TV choices were pretty minimal, but we're there to see Kuching and Borneo, right?

If you travel because you actually want to spend time knowing the country then this is a much better choice than a resort that will look pretty much like any resort category hotel anywhere in the world. Nothing against luxury - this is just another fun way to go too.

nice, spacious rooms, okay bathroom, clean towels, perfect self service breakfast (bread with jam and peanut butter, koffie and tea. hot water (to make your own tea, koffie; you can use the breakfast k/t). Just leave your plates, they will clean it for you.
we needed 1 extra matress, they forgot, but the "nightshift guy" at the reception put in the bed so my children could go to sleep after our dinner breake.
there are 2 turtles living in the reception "pool"; you can see this pool ons the website of the hotel. my children liked this.

The location is strategic which is u can easily access to major attraction places at kuching.

All staff including cleaner also very helpfull especially the receiptionist. They can suggest u the attraction place, how to go etc. *credit to brother EE

Kudos to kuching waterfront lodge!!!!!

I stayed at this hotel in February 2010. The location is great. Right in front of the river and very aptly named. It's an easy nice walk along the old streets of Kuching City which are just behind the Lodge.

I took a family room with an attached bath and air-con. It had a double bed and a single bed. The sheets were clean, as were the towels. When we entered, I could immediately whiff a kind of fresh scent in the room. Very nice. Not musky.

The bathroom was VERY clean. No molds, no stains.

The price I paid for the room came with breakfast. I have to say kudos to the Lodge for the way they keep the kitchen clean and well-arranged. Breakfast is typical bread and toast, with coffee and tea but they also had fruits which the guy (oh gosh, I am so sorry I forgot your name) who manned the kitchen served us at our table. His service in the kitchen is top-notch.

The only thing is the walls are pretty thin and I can hear people talking somewhere - perhaps in their rooms, or corridors - into the night..
