The room was spacious, very nicely decorated and had a good bathroom. It seemed like it was designed as a 4.5 star hotel that hadn't prospered and was just getting a little tired, so they were discounting the rooms.. The staff were lovely but a bit shy. They didn't have much tourist information but the map was very good. Breakfast was OK but some of the food had been kept luke warm for too long. The exterior of the Hotel is a bit grubby and it is located in a kind of odd street but only 5 minutes walk to downtown. I felt welcome here and the few small requests I made were fulfilled quickly and happily. The price is very good for the room quality.

we pay for our stay then i book 1 extra bed for my kid...but it broken when my kid want to lay in. the management of hotel need to take of client. lucky my kid not injured. your are 3*** hotel. why this can be happen?

I was in Kuching with a colleague to attend a meeting. We chose this hotel by chance (as it had a very unique name) when we arrived at the airport. It was also recommended by our taxi driver, Simon. On arrival at the hotel, we chose to look at the rooms before we checked in, and the receptionists kindly obliged us. The hotel lobby has many interesting local designs, which was really different from other hotels we've stayed in. We settled for a twin standard on the 2nd floor, non-smoking. The room was bright, comfortable, clean, functional and had all we needed, including tea making facilities. There was room service but we chose to eat in the hotel's cafe. Food was good and very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly. The next night we tried nearby a coffee shop for a change, but we felt that the food is much better at the hotel. We extended our stay for another 2 days to do some sales calls. When we left, the hotel offered a van to take us to the airport, but we chose a taxi instead. We"ll be back at Telang Usan the next time we are in Kuching.

On our recent visit to Kuching for the world Hash House Harriers gathering, we stayed at this hotel for two weeks. Although the rooms weren't four star, they were well appointed, clean and comfortable. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations, which will see improvements in the rooms. The thing that made this hotel an outstanding destination, was the frendliness and can do attitude of the staff. The restaurant in the hotel was excellent, with a fine selection of local and international food at very affordable prices. It is worth spending some time looking at the diplays in the downstairs area. As this hotel is run by the local native Eban, there is some very interesting artifacts on display.
One of the highlights of the stay, was visiting the Ruai Bar next door. An interesting and very frendly mix of locals who all enjoy a cleansing ale over a quiet chat with the tourists.
All in all, it was a great stay. We would not hesitate to come back again, and hopefully we will.
