“Sch0n Redang~~”

The resort is quite ok and the facility can be said is just basic..At least we enjoy the beauty of Redang Island with an economic rate.. But the services there is good.. The workers there are very friendly and willing to provide services when we need regarding the time.. This is the thing that I appreciate when we were having our holidays there..^^v
The sea, seaside and underwater are very beautiful.. We watched the sunrise at around 6.50am at the beach and we also saw the "blue tears" at the beach during midnight..
It is worth to travel to Redang Island once~~

“Prime beach at minimal costs”

Fussbuckets stay away. This place is not for you. You have Laguna at the other end of Pasir Panjang beach, and you have the Seri Pacifina next door. But if the beach is why you're at Redang, Pelangi gives you the same swimming/snorkeling area as these 2 properties. And at half to one-fifth of the cost. Food's not so great, but you're spoilt for choice with number of options to eat on that beach - from an RM 3 Ramly burger to a fancy buffet at the Laguna. They have a jetty right across (the only one there) and have quite a number of boats for snorkeling as well as diving. The dive centre guys are top notch too. You get quite a few (harmless!) black-tipped sharks very close by. Time to do that is 5pm. And the last time we were there we saw a moray eel too. Underwater camera rentals were RM30 the last time we stayed there, and these come highly recommended if you want amazing memories.

“Fantastic Budget Hotel”

We were a little anxious about staying here after reading the reviews but had our minds changed after spending three blissful days here.
The place has a really friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Every request we made was dealt with quickly and efficiently. The staff were all very helpful and warm.
The room was very basic, but there was air con, a fan and a bathroom. There were a few ants nothing to get upset about. The shower was fine, I wouldn't have drunk the tap water but I never do in Malaysia.
The food was good. They made western food for the kids if they didn't like the buffet. There was always a choice and always lots of it. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and always a supply of bread/jam/toast.
There were two snorkeling trips a day included. The boat drivers were nice, knowledgeable and helpful especially with the kids.
The bar was in the most beautiful setting. My only criticism was the very loud music that started after 9pm ish most evenings. It made it impossible to chat to other people which was a real shame.
We visited a few of the other resorts on the island and they all seemed quite soulless compared the the Pelangi. We would certainly stay here again.
To sum up - if you are fussy or can't live without luxury then this resort isn't for you. If you are chilled out and positive then this is the place.
Oh and it's amazing value for money too. It was the cheapest place we stayed during a month in Malaysia.

“Pelangi Resort - Redang review”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

There are its pros and cons in this resort.
The best part of this resort are :
- The frontline staff at the reception counter... very nice malaysian style
- Great music at the bar at nightgs
- Immediate resolutions to problems encountered in the rooming arrangement

The worst part:
- The dive centre (at the left facing the resort) is made up of thugs.. usless guys who are rude and untamed
- Went for a dive and the instructor was not there while i was diving and i was diving alone he never bothered explaining or being around where the first thing a dive instructor should do is be around due to safety messures
- Snorkelling was done by a guy who spoke in Chinese... for us who did not understand Chinese it was really disgusting as there were lots or foreigners there and he took us to the snorkelling area but did not explain on dos and donts or rather we could not understand as he only spoke in chinese
- The guy in charge of snorkelling treated the people like kids... "Pleangi.. come here" "Pelangi time to go" "Pleangi ... listen" there was not decorum in the way he did things he does not know that people there are more educated then him
- The food is bloody awful (we were there during the muslim fasting month)
- Double standards of food for the motel and the shallot residence
- bathroom is small, water does not flow well, no proper mirrors or place to even hang your towel.
- the rented snorkel set was bad .... they never cleaned it properly and i got a cough until today which is more then 2 weeks already.
- the hotel staff or dive / sea activity staff did not take the time to explain the untouched beauty of redang... it was more like treating people in a meat market... it did not feel like a holiday. a beautiful place ruined by hopless people.
- arrogant boatmen who were speeding from reading to KT when there was a bad cross wave and we had to warn him to slow down as a capsize would have happened.

i will go to Redang but never to stay in Pelangi

“PLEASE KEEP CLEAR OF THIS HOTEL!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

Luckily we spent just 2 nights in this hotel! Chalet rooms are dirty, furniture is old and less than essential.
No hair dryer was supplied, no soap, no facilities, towels were dirty, bed clothes were filthy. Continental breakfast was up to 9.30 am, it consisted on bread & jam (only berries jam), tea or coffee.
Device necessary to toast the bread was totally filthy… horrible!!
Air conditioning system was noisy and not usable during the night, shower was “a water valve” in the middle of the bathroom; if you use shower you cannot use bathroom for half a day!!
No beach towels were supplied, deck-chairs were broken and dirty.
Finally wi-fi connection didn’t work propery in that period!!
I warmly advise readers against this Hotel.
