A business partner had made reservations for us at the Agile Hotel. The place was spotlessly clean, the room spacious, and the bathroom very nice. The surrounding area was good for meals, there was a 7/11 and supermarket next door, so everything was convenient.
The staff was very friendly, albeit not always proficient in English. That did not cause any problems, however.
There were two minor quibbles:
While the western breakfast was quite acceptable, the selection of fresh fruit and baked goods could have been a bit better.
The closest metro station is about 5 km away. It would be handy for the hotel to have a shuttle there.
All in all, a very pleasant stay in a good hotel. I can highly recommend the hotel if you want to stay in the Panyu District.

Agile Guangzhou is a newly opened hotel inside the Agile residential estate. The room is spacious with modern decorations. A big supermarket and a 24-hour convinent store are located next to the hotel. There is a small lake which you can have a leisure walk.
Hotel guests can use the recreational facilities (ask for coupon from the hotel front desk first) in the residential clubhouse which is located with a distance away from the hotel. You should either take a 12-min walk or order a free shuttle. There are quite a lot of facilities including swimming pool, tennis court, table tennis, rock-climbing, badminton, etc.
