The hotel is located in a less crowded road in Tianhe district which is just around the corner to Guangzhou east station (with direct through trains to Hong Kong), Jusco department store and IKEA within walking distance. There is not much sightseeing in the area but since we are just visiting relatives so it does not matter much to us. The metro station is around 10 minutes stroll from the hotel. As the hotel is newly opened, a lot of taxi drivers do not know about this new hotel so it might be a good idea to have maps ready.
The lobby has a very high ceiling giving a comfortable and spacious feeling. The rooms we stayed in have sofa, writing desk and other furnitures which are very new since the hotel is newly opened last yearand the lighting is very sufficient. The beds are soft and comfortable however it is a bit too high for my old grandmather who stayed with us and we need to help her getting on and off bed. There are electrical plugs conveniently located next to the bed. Internet connection is available in room but only free wifi access are available in ground floor lobby and gym/pool floor. In fact a lot of hotels in PRC now offered in-room free wifi access (even an older hotel I stayed in Zhaoqing which is my earlier stop from Guangzhou) so I hope the hotel could consider offering such service in rooms as well.
The gym is one of the most well-equipped gyms I have even been to and it is opened 24-hours (after 10pm there is no staff but it is accessible with room key card). The staff are very nice as they let us look into the gym freely even though the elders in our family are just strolling around and not intended to use the facilities. The rest area outside the gym has comfortable couches with free wifi access. However, as I went to the gym at night when the staff left already, all the lights outside the gym at the rest area and the lift liobby were off and I had to switch on my mobile to gain some "light" to find my way. I think it would be great to have some sensor lights which can turn on when guests walk along at night before and after going to gym so that it is safer for guests instead of the need to walk and find the way in the dark.
Staff at the concierge are very helpful as we were travelling as a large family with a lot of luggages and they were very helpful in moving all our luggages onto the shuttle bus to the railway station and assisted my grandmother who is not too good at walking to get onto shuttle.
Our booking has breakfast buffet included and there is a large variety of western and Chinese style food and also cantonese style dim sum. I especially like the fruit and vegetable juice bar where there are fresh fruits and vegetables ready where I could order a jiuce of mixed combination of fruits/veggie at my own choice. There is also a wide variety o bread and pastries available including donuts (which is less ofte found on breakfast tables in PRC hotels) , salad bar, yogurt, cold cuts, congee, etc. In general, the quality is good.
