“New and modernly furnished hotel opened in 2011, very helpful and nice concierge staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

The hotel is located in a less crowded road in Tianhe district which is just around the corner to Guangzhou east station (with direct through trains to Hong Kong), Jusco department store and IKEA within walking distance. There is not much sightseeing in the area but since we are just visiting relatives so it does not matter much to us. The metro station is around 10 minutes stroll from the hotel. As the hotel is newly opened, a lot of taxi drivers do not know about this new hotel so it might be a good idea to have maps ready.

The lobby has a very high ceiling giving a comfortable and spacious feeling. The rooms we stayed in have sofa, writing desk and other furnitures which are very new since the hotel is newly opened last yearand the lighting is very sufficient. The beds are soft and comfortable however it is a bit too high for my old grandmather who stayed with us and we need to help her getting on and off bed. There are electrical plugs conveniently located next to the bed. Internet connection is available in room but only free wifi access are available in ground floor lobby and gym/pool floor. In fact a lot of hotels in PRC now offered in-room free wifi access (even an older hotel I stayed in Zhaoqing which is my earlier stop from Guangzhou) so I hope the hotel could consider offering such service in rooms as well.

The gym is one of the most well-equipped gyms I have even been to and it is opened 24-hours (after 10pm there is no staff but it is accessible with room key card). The staff are very nice as they let us look into the gym freely even though the elders in our family are just strolling around and not intended to use the facilities. The rest area outside the gym has comfortable couches with free wifi access. However, as I went to the gym at night when the staff left already, all the lights outside the gym at the rest area and the lift liobby were off and I had to switch on my mobile to gain some "light" to find my way. I think it would be great to have some sensor lights which can turn on when guests walk along at night before and after going to gym so that it is safer for guests instead of the need to walk and find the way in the dark.

Staff at the concierge are very helpful as we were travelling as a large family with a lot of luggages and they were very helpful in moving all our luggages onto the shuttle bus to the railway station and assisted my grandmother who is not too good at walking to get onto shuttle.

Our booking has breakfast buffet included and there is a large variety of western and Chinese style food and also cantonese style dim sum. I especially like the fruit and vegetable juice bar where there are fresh fruits and vegetables ready where I could order a jiuce of mixed combination of fruits/veggie at my own choice. There is also a wide variety o bread and pastries available including donuts (which is less ofte found on breakfast tables in PRC hotels) , salad bar, yogurt, cold cuts, congee, etc. In general, the quality is good.

“Comfortable, good location”

We had 6 nights here over New Year and were imoressed with the facilities and service. The hotel is brand new and vey corporate in style. The rooms are spacious but very masculine and dark with large bathrooms. The beds are big -almost too soft for my liking. Breakfast was very complete with great emphasis on Chinese cuisine - indeed the majority of guests were Chinese - but there was a wide choice of other options too. The staff were helpful and polite, especially the concierge. The location is great as it is 5 mins walk from the East Railway Station (direct trains to Hong Kong) and the hotel offers a shuttle service there coinciding with the trains.

“One of the best Hiltons that I have stayed,,,”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

My family and I received a very warm and welcome greeting from "Kimi" at the airport during our recent 2 night stay in early January 2012. We were whisked away in the hotel's Mercedes van. From check-in to check-out our client experience was top of the class. All of the staff were very professional, polite and attentive to ensure our stay was comfortable. Kimi helped us purchase train tickets for our next stopover to Hong Kong. We dined one evening at their in-house restaurant known as Sui Xuan. The food and service were absolutely superb. I have no complaints about staying here at all. I am extremely disappointed with one of the guest's review highlighting their poor service. I would dispute this. Further, this guest's expectation was unreasonable about criticizing the staff's English language skills. Most of them were proficient to communicate on most matters. ( Come on lady, your English grammar skills are in need of improvement!) . "Martin", the bell hop helped carried our luggage from the shuttle bus at the train station right up to the gate! (as an alternative, you could walk to the train/subway station) Now this is customer service at its best! This hotel deserves recognition for their efforts to ensure their guests received top-notch service. Bravo to the whole team. I have stayed in many Hilton chain hotels around the world. This one is at the top of my list and I would stay here again in a heart beat. KC

Room Tip: The King rooms deluxe are tastefully decorated.

“wow, now that's a hotel !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

This hotel has more class then the Vegas hotels...
I was sad to leave this hotel, the buffet was out of this world, the executive lounge was amazing with a view, and the staff soooo freindly. Taxi is the way to get around they are very cheep, hotel is about a 5 min walk to the subway. And the shopping made my wife purchase two more suit cases...
The concierge would write on his business card in Chinese the destination we wanted to go and we would show it to the cab driver. Worked very well, and for the return trip we would use the same card with the hotel address to get us back. The concierge was very helpful to recommend us points of interest and places to go and see.
This hotel is a must, it is also new not even a year old yet.

“Very good hotel, although not sure what bathroom amenities they have.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

My wife and I visited Guangzhou for a weekend in early January and stayed here for one night.

We were picked up by one of Hilton's staff who was friendly and waiting for us at the train station and took us back to the hotel in the shuttle bus.  The hotel is actually a short walk from Guangzhou East station and quite conveniently located. When we checked in we were told the room was available and we were able to go up straight away.

We travelled up to GZ on a special occasion and Hilton had set the room up with flowers and provided us with a cake, which was lovely of them.

There was a big double bed in the room with white linen, a sofa, study table and chair. Other usual facilities and features included flat screen TV, ample wardrobe space and good tea making facilities were there too.

The bathroom was really nice with a separate tub, shower room (with rain shower) and toilet cubicle. We were expecting Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries as noted on their website but actually were Peter Thomas Roth brand. Whilst these bathroom amenities were fine we made a point about this to the front desk and were given a curt response (which did not answer the question either) by one of Hilton's staff, who's initials are 'SC'. The towels and bathrobes were nice and soft though.

Breakfast was a buffet at one of their restaurants  and there was a large selection of international foods to chose from. All of my choices were pretty good. There are live congee and noodle cooking stations, and a fruit juice station where you chose different fruits to make your own cocktail, which I particularly liked.

We also had lunch at one of their other restaurants as we were able to check out later. 'Sui Xuan' serves Chinese food and we had dim sum there, which was a pleasant experience.

I tried their gym, which was open early morning. As the hotel is new so is the gym equipment, which is plentiful as well. They have an outdoor swimming that supposedly was heated but I did not brave to try it.

The Hilton is a very nice hotel as you would expect from their brand. This one is new, modern and nicely situated in the city as well. The level of English from some staff could be slightly better for a hotel this standard but I would still recommend it.
