“Good Choice with kids”

The hotel is part of the Chimelong Resort, Water Park, fun park and safari, that built in a safari theme. You can see some white tigers and flamingos in the White Tiger Restaurant.
It is very convenient to see the night circus show nearby.

“Modern resort - right for my safari”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Did not expect much, but I was impressed with the accommodation, service and food. Excellent for a 2-3 day getaway, but NO MORE. The worst aspect was the long line-up for breakfast in the White Tiger Restaurant, which has a 1,000 person capacity.

Room Tip: There is two sections, make sure to book a room in Blocks 6-9 (new towers).

“Disneyland of Guangzhou ... sorta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We are expats living in Shanghai and this was a nice getaway for something that is family friendly, wholesome, safe and not too many smokers. This place is built for local Chinese visitors in mind. If you can speak minimal Chinese or can draw/gesture what you need with a big smile, you will be okay. Very friendly place in general. Word of warning : do not go on a weekend as the place will go from about 900 people to 9000 visitors overnight. We went there on a non-Chinese school holiday and we had a great time.

We were there for a 3 day long weekend. The hotel has beautiful grounds, lobby, restaurants and public areas. The rooms are like a 3-star motel from the 90s with hunter green carpet to match. TV, cool/heat, electric coffee pot, blow dryer all worked. Walls are thin as husband heard sounds of mahjoong from next door or above until late one night. All in all, comfortable hotel for the price. Breakfast buffet was pricey but superb selection from Asian to Western styles. If you are lucky and get there early, you can get seats next to a glass cage overlooking pink flamingoes or white tigers (separate areas). However, the 3 days we were there, those window seats were reserved for some group and we never got to eat breakfast with the animals, which would have been nice.

Circus - The highlight of our visit. It is better than any circus act I've ever seen, a real eye opener. It is better than the ERA in Shanghai, comparable to cirque du soleil in terms of the number and variety of acts. Amazing is all I can say. Get there ealy, to get seats because it is on a first come first serve basis. We got there 1/.5 hours before the show and bought dinners and ate at our front row seats. You are allowed, even encouraged to buy food from their foodcourt and eat at your seat!

Zoo - Amazing as well. We saw at least 6 white tigers and other animals within close but safe range. Hundreds of monkeys and other animals we have not seen before. There were a large area with at least 150 flamingoes. Quite a sight indeed! For 20rmb, my children fed bananas to elephants and chicken meat to tiger cubs! Not something you get to do anywhere else in the world! We had lots of amazing pictures. The animal shows were all great. Our favorite was the elephant show.

Themepark - This may be the least favorite part of our trip. The themepark rides were rather old and suspicious looking. We stayed with ground level rides like the trains and the carousel. There various shows were good and the stunt show was excellent. However, it could get uncomfortably loud so bring ear plugs or you may have very tired fingers. All in all enjoyable.

The mini store in the basement of the hotel was nice. The outdoor pool was free to hotel guests. The indoor pool charges US$100/person/4 hours and obviously we didn't use that.

“Great place if u go for their safari/fun park etc. Great for family with kids for 2-3 days”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

This hotel is great specially if u want to visit their Safari or see the circus show.
Our check in time is fine, but we check in on Monday, so not too busy and I can speak Chinese, so it help. I think why many other complain it take too long for people to check in because people had too many question on the resort, how to get ticket, where and how, (because if u live in this hotel, u can get discount ticket for one of the attraction.)
While we check in, the guy who look after our luggage gave a set of drawing kit to our kids to keep them busy, that's also a nice touch.

I read other people's complain abt the room were not ready when u arrive.
So when I get into the room and see the pillow had no cover and left on the sofa, I am not surprise! My sister's room was the same, a supervisor was checking her room at that moment, so I ask about the pillow, he explain it was usually done at night (it's a joke! but I just told him to fix it asap). Anyway, we were too hungry, so we left for late lunch. After the Circus that night, it's already late and the room were all ready.

We stay in Safari room (new wing) as I am worry the old wing room might smell as other people mention.

The Circus was one of the best show we ever seem, we had very good seat because we stay in the hotel, they had special section u can choose if u show them yr room card.
We all think for the price we pay of the show, it was really worth it. My Italian husband really surprise of the high standard of this show in China. For all the kid under 1.2m are free, so we had 3 kids are free. How great is that. Our parent brought senior ticket if u can show u r 65 or above.

All the room charge WITHOUT a free breakfast, but we did plan to go for breakfast in white tiger restaurant. However we were too late after all the kids ready to go out, it's pass 10am, it's too late for the buffet breakfast. But we saw the white tiger the night before in the restaurant and the snow tiger next to the bar, they were so cute.

Second day we went for Safari, we drive our car in, so it cost another RMB180 to get in, but again it's great way to see the animals, we can stay as long as we can. Too many animal to see, we spend the afternoon on the walking side of the safari, but we could not finish the whole place. That day was my sister's birthday, so one person is free to go in, again 2 of our kids are free, just 1 (she is 7) need to buy children ticket.

The hotel restaurant has limited choice, the one we went 2 times are the Butterfly restaurant, food are OK, price reasonable. We went to have buffet dinner OUTSIDE the hotel, which was great and cheap, my sister also can eat for free, (it's her birthday), they even gave us a free birthday cake!

The night we went back to the room, plan to go down for the last drink with the tiger, my sister told me the hotel gave her 2 small tiger doll and few fruit for her birthday!! That's nice.
When we reach the bar, it's too late and dark to see the tiger but we had our last drink and it's a great end of our trip.

It's great place to stay if u want to see their safari/fun park/water park etc. and really great place for family with kids for 2 or 3 days.

Room Tip: Safari room in block 5, we were close to the Butterfly restaurant.

“Good place for family getaway”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Chime Long hotel is huge resort where good for family getaway. They provide free shuttle bus service from Guangzhou East Railway Station to hotel frequently, time schedule is exactly linked with Guangzhou-Hong Kong through train’s arrival time. You can easily find the hotel representative after pass through the Custom. But non-frequent shuttle service for vice versa. Only 30 mins ride from railway station to hotel.

Our rooms were assigned at Tower 5, we had to walk a long way from the lift lobby to the room because our rooms were located near the end of corridor. One of our rooms was not really ready when I checked-in the room at 2:30pm, because the room maid still cleaning up the bath room. But I had not asked for room change since the room maid said the cleaning would be finished in 10 mins.

Room and restaurant are expensive but the food is horrendous and tasteless. No alternative choice other than the hotel’s restaurants. Do not order sweet and sour pork, fat is more than meat and tasteless.

The hotel also provides free shuttle service to chime long safari park every 15 mins but the bus always full and crowded. The hotel shuttle wills drop-off and pick-up at south entrance. But most of the tourists were exited from the north entrance after riding the Safari on Wheels. Reminder: the last Safari on Wheels will be departed at 5pm, don’t miss out. Free shuttle bus also stops at the north entrance but you have to change at south entrance again if you want to return to the hotel or visit the Circus Show. The Circus show is amazing and value for money. Highly recommend for everyone.

Room Tip: Free room upgrade service is not popular in China, you have pay supplement or book in advance if you...
