Flawless, impeccable service and exceptionally appointed rooms and suites are the hallmarks of the Ritz-Carlton brand. The Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou does not disappoint. Having stayed at many fine 5-star properties throughout Asia, including Shangri-La, Intercontinental, Westin, Hilton, JW Marriott, and Pullman, the Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou stands head and shoulders above them all. The room was furnished with high quality amenities and linens. My son fell in love with the high-thread count bathrobes and we all enjoyed the exceptional service and attention to the smallest detail, a rarity in China.

There's a superb (but pricey) breakfast buffet and a state-of the art fitness center with modern Technogym equipment that overlooks a gorgeous heated outdoor swimming pool, warm enough to use even in the middle of January. The only flaw is the location, despite its riverside location next to the Asian Games site and the new Guangzhou TV tower, it is not in a busy commercial center and thus there are very limited options for dining and shopping nearby. However, taxi's are plentiful and the concerige can also hire you a chauffered Mercedes sedan for 300 RMB per hour for private shopping and sightseeing trips. In all, if you want to splurge in style, the Ritz-Carlton is the way to go in Guangzhou.

Nice room and decor. Tea set is exquisite and Pillows Menu is exceptional. You have to try it.
Try to get the river view since the other neighbor is under construction. The cost is reasonable but no breakfast and internet are not complimentary.

Given the price which this property charged its client, it is not worth it (over250usd average). I managed to secure a 150 night in a luxury river view room (an upgrade with platinum), but that's rare to find.

Rooms and views are great, but that's all. Slow front desk service, no immediate sitting area while waiting. You have to stand behind for minutes. Small lobby, with tons of people in low season. Given this price, I could get a club or even suite in the nearby grand hyatt, and they have nice restaurants and bars. It will not worth 4 stars if I had to pay 250+ to stay here.

I have stayed here several times over the past 4 months. I would give the hotel reasonable marks compared to the competition, but they are not up to the standards you would expect from a Ritz Carlton. My rooms always have the odor of mold. On one occasion, my room had clearly been occupied by a smoker although it was a non-smoking room. The staff has failed to enter my Marriott Rewards number twice and I get to go through the painful process of making a request through the online process.

Overall, I find the hotel superior to most of the hotels in China, but not operated up to the standards that you would associate with a Ritz Carlton property.
