To catch a glimpse of the ice sculptures being built for the Snow Festival, we stopped over i Sapporo on our way from Niseko to Singapore. We stayed at Korakuen next to Odori Park, where most of the activities are taking place. It was very convenient to walk from the hotel around the park.
I was unsure whether my booking via an internet agent was in order, as the hotel did not answered my emails (apparently they do not answer emails from normal webmail providers such as Google and Yahoo). However, the staff was very friendly and helpful on arrival and gave us a very spacious and clean room. My family was very happy with the quality of the beds and bathroom.
We were surprised not to find WIFI at the hotel, not even in the lobby. There was no computer available for guest use either. For short trips we are now only travelling with smart phones, and we had several emails waiting to be sent. Eventually we found a fast-food place with WIFI where we could send the emails.
Despite the quality of the room, I can not recommend a hotel here the management is out of touch with the communication requirements of modern travellers.
