Hi all,

Arrived to Sapporo today at 5pm....there was a lot snow resulting a complete halt in the airplanes take off and landing.
Upon landing, we couldnt get off our plane until 1.5 hours later.....had to wait until the other plane to defrost before it can take off. JR train to Sapporo....supposed to be 36 minute airport rapid. But due to the weather, the trains are all delayed. We got on the 7:19 pm train. Arrived in Sapporo JR station at 8:30! At many occasions, the train had to completely stop.

So walked over to our hotel Sapporo Aspen Hotel. Highly recommend this hotel. Excellent location, two minutes to walk from JR station. Excellent staff and service. The roads leading to the hotel are big roads so we were able to drag our luggage through the streets with little problem. It got really cold by 9:00.pm. Luckily there is a very good Izakaya restauranr across the street where we had dinner. And after dinner there is a Seicomart (convenience store) on the hotel's corner. We bought water, milk for the kids, some snacks for our trip to Niseko tomorrow.

Sapporo Aspen hotel: Very clean. Very well designed rooms. Excellent service. Staff speaks English. This hotel always replied to.my email inquiries within 24 hours too.
Glad we stayed one night here. Upgraded me to a big quad room instead of having two rooms. next time we come to Sapporo, will definitely choose this hotel again.

We stayed here for a night before transitting to niseko. it met all our needs of being close to the JR and it was clean and comfortable and not too expensive (in contrast JR Sapporo Tower was 4x the cost). Most of the Niseko coaches also provided a pick up from the Aspen.

very near to the JR sapporo station and affordable too! which surprises me coz their ambiance doesnt match on the cost per night. a classy hotel in a way. they also have vending machines in each flr and a laundry station on the 2nd flr. Service was great. beds are comfy but pillows are somewhat uncomfortable. but all in all twas a great stay!

This was our first visit to Sapporo and we were unsure where to stay. We found this hotel on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try. It was not a wrong choice. The hotel is great. Great location, great rooms, nice and friendly staff. We had a family room with 4 beds. The room was simple but clean. The beds were comfortable and we all had a great night sleep every night we were there, and we were there for 5 nights. The hotel is located near the JR station and access is easy, even with the snow and slush. Food was not a problem as located within the JR station are a number of restaurants serving Japanese, German and Italian food. Shopping was great as well as located in the same JR station are some great shopping places. There is also a great bookshop, Kinokuniya, nearby. There is also a big electronic mall nearby as are three 24 hour convenience shops. It cannot be a better place to stay.

Even some of the places to visit are within walking distance. Odori park, the TV tower, the underground shopping are about 10 to 15 minutes walking distance. We walked to most of these places, two adults with an eight and eleven year old during winter. We enjoyed ourselves so much we are already planning to go back.
