Hotel functional, but basic. Rooms small, no wardrobes, 3 coathangers per room and some hooks. Rooms were clean. We stayed 6 nights and had to live out of our bags as no room to unpack.
Would be ok if touring and looking for a stop for a couple of nights.
No bar - but many restaurants and bars in the area.
Close to underground train station. Staff very helpful.

This is a no frills hotel but it's very good value considering the location, quality of room and the period we were there (cherry blossom peak period). The room, though small, is clean, bright and functional. The reception staff were very helpful though their English ability may not be that good. Most of the guests staying there seem to be japanese, but we saw a few other foreigners there too.

A simple breakfast (3-4 types of bread, salad, coffee,tea, juice) was provided. Very good value considering we only paid 9900 yen for a twin room. the bread was delicious!

It's 5 min walk to Shijo subway station and near Nishiki market as well as a few departmental stores.

I found the location very handy. Of course the room was small but this is to be expected. Hotel was clean. nice breakfast included and staff was helpful. Some spoke better English that others. I was one of only a few non Japanese there. Close to the big market and the staff directed me to a street/alley with lots of pub style restaurants where I had a great time. Very good value.

My wife and I stayed here while on a business trip to Kyoto. It has a great location right in the midst of downtown, and is surrounded by many good bars and restaurants. Our room was spacious (for Japan) with a good Western style bathroom. OK breakfast and good coffee each morning. The staff were really nice and helpful; for example they lent us an umbrella when it rained. Pretty cheap for such quality in Japan.
