Autumn is a special time in Japan, the radiation scare up North in Fukushima -we are happy to have gone through with our trip to Kyoto, the Palace Side Hotel was still fully booked just happy to have a confirmed bed for 9nights . For stays over 6 nights-the hotel gave a special discounted rate of Y8200 a nite, with the yen $ rate crazy high its costing about $110 per night with taxes net. The coup de grace of the hotel is we get to just cross the street and voila- each of our morning walks in a lovely National Imperial Garden (free of charge). The maple leaves have started to change from green to red, the Gingko Bioba -yellow leaves are magnificent too. The nifty cold air is still manageable considering we come from the tropical islands of the philippines.
The rooms of the hotel is well cared for, small refrigerator, Tfal water heater, free green tea and complete Shiseido Shampoo/Conditioner & body bath liquid soap. The neighborhood is quite, convenience store & McDonalds just 3 minutes walk. We cannot help imagine what it was like living in this area 1200 years ago in the days of the Shogun. A lot of tourist sites within taxi distance-reasobnable & affordable when you are 4 in a cab, coz the minimum bus and subway fares have gone up to Y250 - so if the fare is les than Y1000 just take a cab. Guest kitchenette on the 2nd floor- allows great savings on food /dinner expenses. Breakfast is McDonald- McMuffin Sausage sandwich only Y100 or Chicken McNuggets for Y100( must be an ongoing promo-5pcs) Fresco supermarket around the corner bait further than K convenience store but well worth the extra 4 minute walk. Truly a home away from home. the hotel is celebrating their 10th year anniversary-as per the pins on their chest. I shall return.
Room Tip: Just book early, and in case of saturday nights, it best to make follow up with their room reservati...
