“Clean, Convenient and Comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2012

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and is very satisfied with the services and product. Although it is slightly further away from the main city (Osaka / Namba Station), however, the hotel is located near the railway station and Japan railway/subway is one of the most advance.

It is rare to find a hotel lobby that big in Japan with nice and long aquarium at the back of the reception counter. The impression when I arrived with my family around 12am was rather tiring, but the check-in process was fast and with less than 10 minutes we checked into our room.

Our is consider big if you stayed in other hotels in Japan before. It comes with separate bath and high-tech toilet.

Great housekeeper! They even put my sons toys in a very decorative and organise manner.

Overall, it is a great hotel for couple and family with children.

Room Tip: Quad Deluxe comes with 4 single beds.

“Need to re-train bell boys & receptionist. But good hotel. ベルボーイとフロント以外は良いホテル。”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We have chosen Universal Port for our final destination of our long return to Japan. When we arrived with train it was freezing cold & very strong wind. We have young kids and lots of heavy luggage, also my husband was injured the any before we came. There was a bell boy a
& girl at the entrance but non of them does not even bother to give us hand. They just greeted but no sign of welcoming guests. That was VERY negative. Also when I checked in, I was carrying a heavy luggage but the receptionist does not even ask if I'd like to put my luggage down or call someone to help. She just kept going with check in. That was very disappointed.

Then Ms Okinaga came to help our luggage and brought us to the room. She was very helpful and she did her job very professionally. The hotel is very lucky to have her as staff.

The room was good. We had a deluxe room and it was perfect size for 4. Only things if I may add, there are tea, kettle and cup available in the room. If so, I'd like to see coffee and tea spoon. Also there was not enough spaces for used bath towels for hanging. I'd like to have more space for it. Other than that if we stay again? If there is an opportunity, we will.

“Great hotel in a great location!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed at Hotel Universal Port this past weekend, and I have absolutely no complaints. The staff was wonderful. They even have quite a few on staff who speak English.

The rooms were quite large compared to other Japanese hotels we have stayed in. They also had free internet. You can even borrow the LAN cable from them for free.

We booked two rooms because we had two older (11 and 14) children with us and they made sure out rooms were right next to eachother.

The train station and Universal City Walk and Universal Studios were all just a short walk away! We took the train in to see the Osaka Castle and to visit the Namba area. Super easy!

They even have a Universal Studios ticket desk in the hotel so we were able to purchase our tickets the night before and avoid standing in the ticket line. We were able to go right to the park entrance and bypass the long line of people waiting to purchase tickets.

I highly recommend this hotel!!

Room Tip: We booked our rooms way in advance on their website and we got a great deal!!!

“Large rooms, great view, easy access to Universal and train station”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

The hotel is well set-up, with 15 floors overlooking either the bay or Universal Studios Osaka. Our room was facing Universal on the 12th Floor. It was a large room and came with the usual amenities which were refilled daily. Shower and bathroom were roomy. Only thing was that we had a non-smoking room, but you could still smell remnants of cigarette smoke in the hallways.

The check-in counter has a lovely big aquarium and the lifts are themed as though you are going into the sea. The cafe and entrance are themed around Dinosaurs, so there is an egg threatening to hatch just near the main entrance, and there is a dinosaur skeleton hanging from the roof of the cafe.

Some reviewers have commented on the distance away, but the Universal-City train station is a 3 minute walk away which connects you to the Osaka Loop line, often going directly to JR Osaka (Umeda). We often chose to change trains at Nishikujo and take the Subway line to Namba. This journey took approx 20min as it was 2 stops to Nishikujo, and then 4 stops to Namba, where the main shopping and restaurant area is. Coming to the hotel at night from the airport meant that you had to take a more local train to change at Nishikujo, if you were prepared to do another transfer at Tennoji or Osaka, you could get there a bit quicker if you didn't have much luggage to lug around. If arriving or departing during the day/early evening, your best option is the Airport Limousine Bus that leaves from Universal and takes around 70 minutes.

The area around the hotel is called Universal City Walk which has numerous restaurants, convenience stores, even the standard McDonalds and Starbucks. We ate there on numerous occasions and was mostly the same value to what we found elsewhere.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Universal Port and would recommend to all, especially if you are visiting Universal Studios.

Room Tip: Park facing are better views, look out for cheap rates on various hotel websites

“Good, comfortable hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

Highly recommend this hotel for it's location, value, service and cleanliness (not necessarily in that particular order!)

Room Tip: We stayed in the upper floors, 11th floor I believe. Nice size room with a couch, 2 twin size beds...
