“Helpful Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Though the lobby and room, etc of Hotel Equatorial looks a bit "old-fashioned" and basic, it offers me a pleasant stay. The staff are helpful as they can even advise where is the nearest supermarket and help book local tour, etc. The breakfast buffet is good with wide variety of food. The only thing that I wanna comment is the air-conditioning system. It appears that the room is a bit "hot" as we cannot adjust the room temperature with the system.

If possible, try to have a room on the upper floor with better view.

“Another pleasant stay”

I booked through booking.com and could only get a twin room. On arrival the hotel upgraded me to a double. The location is great -easy to get most places in KL. The staff are always so helpful and pleasant. A really good value for money stay.

“Great value, good location”

Came here near Christmas and the lobby was handsomely decorated. Really helped put us in the cheery, festive (and more forgiving) mood. Registration was smooth and within 10 minutes my wife and I were in the room. It was very spacious, well-lit, and away from traffic noise although it was in the middle of town. For a hotel here, I half-expected a cramped room like Ciitel MidValley so it was a pleasant surprise. The bed was very comfy and satellite TV was adequate. Bathroom was roomy and had all the standard toiletries provided as well.

When we had to venture out, the monorail was just 5 minutes' walk away from the hotel, and a stop or two way from Bukit Bintang, the busiest shopping area in KL. What I like is the hotel is located just outside of the busiest town area so you can still expect some peace and quiet around the hotel. If you don't feel like going to town so often, Subway is just next door, a KFC just opposite, and the cafe/bakery at the ground floor of the hotel serves some delicious food.

Would definitely stay here again. For just RM208 (excluding taxes), this is as good as it gets. Great value and location.

Room Tip: If you're afraid of traffic noise do request for a higher floor.

“Good location but average room~”

The location is good to nearby the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Bintang. You will get many of shopping malls and entertainment around this area in walking distance. The deluxe room i get was spacious, but due to its hotel age, the room are old and feeling a bit down in color tune and lighting. Some sort of dusty feeling... i'm not sure am i'm too sensitive?

“Excellent location at a good rate”

Managed to get a good deal on Expedia so booked in a two day stopover on my way to China in May. Close to Pavillion Mall and Bintang walk with the monorail less than two minute walk away. Room a little outdated however had a comfy bed and flat screen tv and was only a place to sleep anyway. Pool was fantastic and even had a partial view of petronas towers. Best of all were the staff. So polite and genuine, really went out of their way to make it an enjoyable stay. Going back to KL in May but trying the Shangri-La (courtesy of another good Expedia deal), however won't hesitate to recommend this place to fellow travelers.
