Stayed here in November 2011 as a couple. I would stay again but I think there is better value in KL - this one is definitely not a 5 star.
The hotel is in a good location only 15minute walk from the Petrona's Towers and public transport and is in a high-rise building (about 30 floors). The check in was a bit rough, the staff were friendly but everything seemed very unorganised and hectic. We did receive a free upgrade to a Junior Suite which was very much appreciated due to the building works on the ground floor .
The rooms are great, a little dated, but great. Very comfortable, nicely decorated and with everything you need including a 2 TV's, DVD player, equipped kitchen, bathrobes and a big array of toiletries. The beds are very comfortable and have large flumpy pillows. We had amazing views of the city from our room on the 27th floor.
The food is only ok, it was pretty overpriced. Again the staff/service failed here when we asked for the trays to be taken from the room and nobody showed up.
The hotel has a gorgeous rooftop pool with some seating boxes surrounded by glass that give spectacular views of the city. At check-in we were told there was a pool party upstairs that night and that we didn't need to book a table but when we arrived at 8.30pm every seat was booked out by people who weren't guests and we couldn't sit down and have a drink! That was really disappointing! I couldn't believe that they didn't have some small allocation of seats for guests as a 5 star hotel. When we complained to the front desk they really weren't bothered and didn't even offer any reason/excuse other than they often have functions for outside guests.
The morning we were leaving we had booked a wake up call which we never got and gave another complaint which fell on uninterested ears. Luckily, we were up early anyway to go for a swim in the rooftop pool which was really nice.
Overall it is a lovely hotel, the rooms are very comfortable and I would stay again but I think for the price range you could find a hotel that is more deserving of your money and would give you friendly service. The staff and the service really knocked the marks down on this one for me.
Happy Travels!
We arrived early in the morning and received a room upgrade (to the biggest suite they had!) which was lovely. We had a great view across the city including the Petronas towers. Room was very spacious and clean. Decor obviously a few years old, but nothing to complain about. Breakfast was great, we loved the Malaysian specialities, but we didn't try the restaurants. There are so many good places to go in KL that it wasn't necessary. The rooftop pool is fab for sipping cocktails and feeling on top of the world!
This location is excellent, right in the heart of the cities with great views and well fitted rooms that are very clean and well furnished despite the age of the hotel. The rooftop is excellent even at night when quiestionable and loud music is played. Even then, good for party goers. Food is above average, the spa was under refurbishment when we were there and the gym is big with plenty of decent equipment. Free internet a bonus and good connectivity. TV's are ok and come with DVD player. Staff very attentive to requests and responsive too.
The best part about this hotel is its location; it is just about 10-15 mins walk from both Petronas and KL Tower. The tariff is relatively cheaper given its location. The room and the bathroom were spacious. We were given a room on the 32nd floor and, as you must have guessed, the view was breathtaking. The room was well-equipped, it had a mini kitchen with a cooking range and utensils. Additional crockery or appliances were provided on request. We had asked for a micro oven which was promptly fitted in our room in no time.
The hotel staff were courteous, the service excellent. They helped us with all our queries about sightseeing and taxi booking.
The Luna bar on the roof top was an excellent place to chill out after a tiring day. The bar staff were very friendly and were forever ready with suggestions about their cocktails. Liquid Sunfire, a flaming cocktail and their speciality, is a must try. The food portions served were huge, can be easily shared.
Breakfast was charged but we got a 20% discount on the bill. The variety wasn't much but the food was good. Besides, there were a lot of restaurants around this area so eating out was never a problem.
All in all, a very good hotel to stay. I would highly recommend this place.
