In the middle of our hectic and awe-inspiring 3 month South American adventure, we decided we wanted to take some time out to relax. A picturesque, quaint vineyard setting came to mind as the perfect tonic but finding one was harder than it seemed. Then we stumbled on Posada Colchagua and the dream became a reality.
A truly idyllic and peaceful getaway at exceptional value. Luxury at affordable prices - especially given how expensive Chile can be. We were able to cook in the ample kitchen to further save on cost. The hostess and her selfless will to help guests lives up to the hype we'd seen on TripAdvisor.
The swimming pool is excellent and there's even a telescope to stargaze in the inevitably cloudless skies. There are complimentary bicycles which proved invaluable to cycle to nearby vineyards - we recommend Montgras - a flat 5km away and the guide Christian (perfect English) taught us more about wine in an hour than we'd learned in 30 odd years in London where we'd done several wine tasting events.
Absolutely devastated we have to leave but this is a place where we intend to spread the word and return one day. A definite highlight for us and that is in context with the Galapagos, Machu Picchu, Amazon rainforest, Salt flats, white water rafting, ziplining across mountains and several other South American highlights. It's the perfect relaxing counterfoil with excellent local wine and the nearby Santa Cruz ($1 per person to get to) thrown in to the bargain.
Our advice is to stay as long as you can...
Room Tip: We were in room 2 which was excellent
