We were nervous about arriving to Wind resort due to the negative comments, let me start by saying whoever wrote them must be delirious as I don't have a bad word to say about this place !!
We arrived and yes there is building work going on, but due to the fast growing popularity of Koh Tao you will have a hard job finding a resort that isn't expanding, you cannot go 10 metres without seeing developments across the island.
They are in the process of building a new room block ( which we stayed in and was FANTASTIC!) and a swimming pool, but unless you decide to sit and stare at it then it goes un-noticed!! Our room was new, modern, clean and a fantastic king sized bed !
All the staff we met were beyond friendly, the chef even chased us down to say bye every night if we missed him and the reception staff were vey helpful, whoever said they were rude was incorrect.
The food is fantastic and cheap and breakfast buffet is included and worth getting up for !
Very easy to book day trips and further travel, I suggest renting a moped if you want to explore. The resort is right in town next to everything you need and the restaurant is on the beach.

If you are looking for 5 star luxury and are fussy just don't stay in Koh tao full stop as its still adjusting to the amount of tourism it receives , which includes building work and over loaded sewer issues On occasion! but if you are laid back and want a laid back, clean friendly and beautiful location then definitely stay here, we will be returning without a doubt !!!!
Koh Tao is the best place we have been too and if you can moan while you're here, no other place in the world stands a chance.More
