“Good facilities and amenities. Bad location.”

We got a Superior Room in the View Wing (which didn't offer much of a view, but that didn't bother us anyway). The room does look very spacious, exactly like how it's shown on the hotel's website. The interior and furnishings are nicely designed, and it does give off a modern feel. Everything worked fine, from air-con to television set, so we don't have much to complain about that, although I'm not sure the experience is universal. What I like about the room is that it comes with partitions that can be pulled out to shield off the sleeping area, and retracted when necessary. It's not so much about privacy; rather, the complete darkness helps with sleeping a great deal. There's also a daybed, which if you request for a 3-person room, will be converted into the 3rd bed (smaller than the 2 main beds.) The bathroom was nice and very clean too, although they offer less toiletries than the affiliated Avillion Port Dickson. One minor complaint is that the room was not carpeted.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, although some of them don't speak English very well.
Their buffet breakfast comes with a good variety of dishes, but it's advisable to come early because there're limited seats in the restaurants. There's also a bar below the restaurant that allows smokers, and they also have a good selection of food. Room service was average, nothing to write home about, and is not available for 24 hours, so do check with hotel staff about that if you're the type that stay up late into the night.
The pool is big and clean, but very crowded if you stay over the weekend. It'll be flooded with screaming children.
The biggest problem with the hotel is its location. The hotel itself doesn't have much selections in terms of eateries, and it's very far from town, so if you don't like the hotel's food then it's not convenient to go out and grab a bite. If you don't want to take a cab, there's shuttle service provided by the hotel to and from town about 3-4 times per day, so it's not frequent enough if you're the spontaneous kind. If you have nothing to do in the hotel and need to get out, this will become a problem too. Then again, there's a beach next to the hotel if you're into beach activities.
Overall, the hotel's facilities and services were good. The only drawback is the location of the hotel. It largely depends on whether you're looking for a place to chill, or to explore and engage in more activities.

“Not a bad bet for 1 night in Port Dickson”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

We booked 1 night from KL over a holiday weekend. The hotel was full and that showed at the pool and particularly at breakfast when there was total meltdown. I've never seen such a shambles at breakfast!!

The room was good, new fittings, odd design but it worked. I found the Reception staff to be very friendly and gracious.

There was access to a private-ish beach which was surprisingly pleasant. THe sea looked murky though.

The pool also did not look the best but the hotel overlooked a pretty marina. An OK choice if you can get a good price.

We stayed here last Thursday, just for one night, the Deluxe room was fine, no problems with aircon, check in or staff. It is not a wonderful hotel but fine for a nights stay in Port Dickson and staff at the pool were excellent

“Improvements needed but not too unpleasant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We booked 5 rooms for a short family getaway during the few days immediately after Chinese New Year. We were prepared for bad service as we suspected that the place will be fully booked during this peak period. We were right about the hotel being fully booked, but was pleasantly surprised that our experience was not too bad. It wasn’t perfect, but it was not a horrible experience.

We were pleasantly surprised by the very helpful and friendly attitude of the porters and bellboys who eagerly helped us unload our luggages from our cars, which we parked on the ground floor near the lobby. They were very friendly, greeted us with smiles and very efficient.

Check-in took slightly longer than I expected, but this could be because we book several rooms using a booking website and another directly with the hotel. I would conclude that booking directly with them is slightly more advantageous since the room booked directly with them was given a King-sized bed, whereas the rooms through the booking site were given separate twin beds eventhough we stated our preference for a king-bed very clearly during reservation. The price was the same either way.

The room décor was quite modern and updated, but it had a little bit of musty smell probably from the wood trimmings and furniture. But the smell lessen considerably after we turned on the air-conditioning. We got rooms at the View Wing, which had partial view of the sea. The beds were clean, nicely laundered and high quality thread count sheets and bed was quite firm. We had good sleep.

Service from housekeeping was quite efficient and quick initially, since at that time not many people checked in yet. Our remote control for the LCD TV was not responsive and immediately upon our complaint, a housekeeping personnel attended to us and changed the battery for us. However, the remote control was slow in responding and that could be because the cable box was hidden behind the LCD screen. However, another room in our travelling party had a busted light bulb in the toilet, but nobody attended to it even though a complaint was made to the front desk. Housekeeping service was not very consistent throughout.

No WIFI in rooms, but there is wired internet. You need to bring your own ethernet cable if you are bringing your laptop or you can loan the cable from the reception for a deposit of RM 10, which is refundable upon return of the cable.

Toiletries were quite sparse and the towels seriously need changing. The towels were grey and worn. Room floor wasn’t exactly very clean and the bedside tables looked dusty and dirty – I daren’t touch them. Relatively good quality bedroom slippers were provided, which helped us cope with the rather grainy floor.

In terms of activities, there were not much to do though we played some indoor table tennis and few rounds of pool. The location of the indoor table tennis table was not ideal as it was tucked into a small section with no ventilation nor sufficient space for much movements. Pool table was slightly uneven resulting in the balls tending to roll to one side of the table. Swimming pool was quite small and didn’t look very clean.

There were some go-karts and bicycles for rent, but the area for these activities is quite small. More for the children than for any serious biking. You could also walk to the beach – not far away. The view of the marina and the surroundings is a nice change than just the view of the sea and beach.

Breakfast was included in the room price but it was a disappointing affair. Quality of the sausage was bad, white and soft with no hint of any chicken taste. The egg station was hidden outside, and only after some serious searching, we found it. Not much fresh fruits were served and even the obligatory 'nasi lemak' which we can find in most hotels were not served. The only food which we found good was the cornflakes – which didn’t need any cooking. The hotel should seriously improve on the quality of the breakfast.

Check-out took a very, very long time. Don’t really know the reason, since we only stayed one night and didn’t have any extra charges or issues. The hotel should improve on check-out time as it took unreasonably long. The bellboys was helpful and very attentive – eager to help us with our luggages and helped to carry our luggages down to the lower level where our cars were parked. They were extremely helpful and attentive – kudos to them.

Overall, it was not an unpleasant stay – but hope the hotel management can improve on the negatives highlighted to make the stay better. It is the small things which make all the difference – especially cleanliness of room, service level of housekeeping and the quality of breakfast. Compliments to the nice landscaping, maintenance of the greens, foliage and shrubs. Common areas were nicely landscaped with simple, clean designs and nothing overtly gaudy or outdated.

“Nice property, dirty bathroom, no smile staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed in this hotel from Jan 29-31 and book just the night before. When we arrived to checked in they were busy with a group and they couldn't find our reservation, they eventually "upgrade us to deluxe room". When we checked into the room, we immediately found several problem.
1. Air con doesn't work
2. NASTY bathroom. The toilet were dirty with water, which made me think it was leaking.
The mirror in front of the sink were full with water stain, like it wasn't cleaned.
There were used shower cap hanging on the mirror.
3. The bed sheet (pillow, duvet converter) were stained. Duvet converter stained were even has white-yellowish stain (I don't even want to think what stain it was).
4. There were no wifi in the room as advertised.
I went down to FD to report this but they were busy, that's when Krishna from front drive approached me and asked me if I have any problem. I told him my room problem and go back to my room. Within 5 mins maintenance came. Turn out that my toilet wasn't leaking. It was just dirty water. Gross!!

The swimming pool bathroom/changing room were even worse, from day 1 to day 3 we stayed there, the bathroom were always smelled like poop. On day 3 the smell were so strong I almost gag.

My conclusion was they are very short on housekeeping staff/supervisor that nobody did walk through before clearing room status for guest to check in and monitor common area.

The next day I had problem with my tv remote, I have to go to FD 3 times to asked for maintenance.

Breakfast were ok, food change everyday so we won't get bored. There were a lot of in house group.

1 thing that really missing in this hotel were SMILE. There were no smile at all with exception from front drive department. The only person who seems willing to help were Krishna.
