“Relaxed and unique experience of staying in water chalet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

It is quite an unique experience to us as this is the first time we stay in chalet above the sea. We always get breeze from sea by sitting at the balcony. The checkin process is smooth and we are allowed to check in around 1pm, this is good and convenient to us.

The location of the resort is near to the Port Dickson town, so it is great to explore around if you stay in Lexis. The hotel lobby is nice and free wireless is available The room is clean and nice. The water chalet has a big bath tub, individual bathroom, there is a glass on the floor where u can look throught the floor to the sea. There is an individual wireless access point in the room and connection speed is great! There is one thing that must do is to see the sunset of melacca strait, you will find it very poetic.

There are facilities like swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym and sauna. The sauna room is great as less people are using it, I am alone when I am enjoying the sauna. But the toilet inside the sauna room should be cleaned more frequently as I can see dirt around the toilet.

The buffet breakfast is good with range of food to be selected. Some how, the coffee house that accomodate the buffet breakfast doesn't seem to be big enough, once there are many guests coming in together, I dont think it will be able to cater all.

Room Tip: If possible, request the room that is nearer to the sea so that you can walk to the edge of water ch...

“Nice water chalet experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This is a great place to stay for a water chalet experience. No problems with checking in or out. The place is quite quiet. We have a spacious room/chalet and I love the comfortable bed! Love the viewing glass panel and love the shower and the open rooftop; however, it is an open bathroom concept.

Nevertheless, a good place to relax.

“Beautiful rooms, ocean view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Both my wife and I booked a regular water chalet for 2d1n but got upgraded due to high occupancy, something which we couldn't complain at. We were given the water chalet right at the tip of the chalets, which has a fantastic ocean view! Its basically just the ocean around us when we stood at the balcony. There wasn't a view of sunset or sunrise unfortunately, which would have made it all perfect.

The room was at a right size, just fantastic for a couple. Besides the queen bed, there's even a day bed thrown in for a guest or child.

General service was good. With a call made to the concierge, the wait for the buggy was about 10 mins to pick us up from the room to the lobby. It was raining, so the buggy was needed. Otherwise, a nice 10 mins walk would suffice.

The guest pool was most of the time busy, with lots of families utilising the facilities. Breakfast needs to improve, as the general food quality is below par.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay there. Would return one day, to the room with the ocean view.

Room Tip: Go for the water chalets, especially those facing the ocean.

“It's ok but not worth returning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

Stayed in Deluxe Water Chalet for 3d2n
Check-in/out: Speedy no hassle, bell boy was helpful.
Rooms: Spacious room with nice comfy king size bed although the pillows/bolster on the day bed smells.  No dvd/vcd player is provided.  In-room safe is available, but funny policy: “Need to get houseman to activate its use.”  It doesn’t makes any sense at all.  Chocked toilet & weak flush, they fixed it but it doesn’t work out well.  Powerful aircon and water heater, we are never short of hot steamy baths.  The bathtub is a plus!  Enclosed balcony faces the chalets @ Grand lexis so does not have much view of the sea.  But we freaked out when we encountered rats in the room.  Saw a bulletin that they will be doing some pest control during our stay, so we deemed it is being managed.  Fridge in room has a notice: “The fridge is emptied for your convenience.”  But never is it convenient for us when we wanted a quick nice cold drink which is unavailable. We found good wifi available in room, restaurants & lobby.  Bring your ipad/phones along, much better than boardgames.
Surroundings:  Laid back town with nothing within close proximity to see or buy.  No convenient stores in sight.  So prepare your necessity way before.
Beach: Dirty, oil spilled beach with greenish seawater.  Forget about prawning or crabbing.
Restaurants: Good, tasty breakfast with wide range of varieties provided.  We had different breakfast changed daily.  There are only 3 food outlets in both resorts.  There is an empty Japanese restaurant next door at Grand Lexis with highly priced menu which doesn’t worth trying.  Found a little cockroach on my menu.  We tried all the rest of the remaining restaurants, Coffee house & their International restaurant. Well presented food tasted good with acceptable prices.  But there were houseflies are everywhere, in room & all restaurants we have been.
Games room:  Doesn’t worth.  All aged machines either have faulty coin slots, unable to play, in silent mode or can’t function at all.  We have to keep walking to and fro the reception to get technicians over to retrieve our coins.
Pools:  Small, very strong chlorine-smell swimming pool that doesn’t worth swimming in.  We got turned off with the sight of filthy yellowish water in a public Jacuzzi, which we thought of dipping in.
There is a taxi service at the lobby.  We spent RM40 for a 2-way chartered car to Port Dickson(PD) town for some shopping.  Driver Kumar was helpful to show us around PD town.  Nothing much as PD is laid back town.  We went thru 3 small shopping malls, did some snacks/drinks shopping @ the local supermarket & ate delicious, cheap local food @ the Muslim restaurant opposite PD walk.

“Not For Me”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Stayed at this hotel over the CNY holiday and the place seems good enough. Lobby was clean and spacious and most staffs are friendly enough.

Had a little problem with Front Desk upon check-in as they asked for a card to verify as deposit. Gave them my debit and they came back saying it is not acceptable, and they require a credit card, which I produced. When I returned to SG and checked my balances, it seems the hotel had withheld money from both cards, which will be held for approximately two weeks before the banks would release the funds back to me. This caused unnecessary inconvenience and I do not really like the feeling of having my money held up. Huge displeasure.

Hotel area is clean and pleasant enough. Got a premium water chalet with an average view and what seemed like poor housekeeping. The safe could not be used and I found peanuts around it! Room is spacious though and with an unusual layout whereby you actually step into the bathroom once you enter the room. Glass panels on the flooring to view the water below, I find it is not much of a sight. Balcony is big and you can laze in the deck chairs, but without any nice views. The curtain on the balcony door may fall but not to worry as it is held together by velcro.

Swimming pool is rather small and they seem to enforce proper swimming attire in the pool. Karaoke rooms are rather on the steep side with very limited songs available. Food is also rather pricy here. If you drive, you can head to Lukut or PD town for your karaoke and meals.

Breakfast is of a good spread but could improve on the quality. The food mostly taste bland.

While I appreciate the service provided by most of the staffs, the chances of me returning are very slim as I am pretty sure other resorts could probably do much better.
