Went in June 2011. End up in Panuba to spend our 1st day and 1st night in Tioman due to unavailability of room in Tekek. We chose Panuba based on the review and also the spectacular view. The resort is huge overlooking the beautiful sea. I'm a bit sad when I found out from the previous reviewer that many of the challets were burnt down. Based on the photos he provided, I think the challet that we stayed were also destroyed. I must say that the food is not that awesome plus we had no other choices. As for activities, swimming, snorkeling and trekking is fun! I hope they rebuild the resort again.

1. A third of the resort was burnt down together with BALI HAI dive centre and this was not advices in advance when we made booking. This was unacceptable as business ethics.
2. Priority of meals goes to those who come with it. So for a la carte meals to be served we have to wait for the kitchen to serve packaged meals first, ie an hour wait even if you are the first customers in the restaurant and orders first. For the records, food was bad.
3. The beach is filthy. Was cut by glass chip.
4. Marine life also depleted maybe due to near monsoon. Staff of the resort found fishing for cuttlefish at their house reef while snorkelers are in the water. So much for a house reef for snorkeling.

Pity the owners do not look after this reef properly. It has spectacular views from the resort and nice waters with marine life. But the potential is jeopardized by their own staff destroying it.

We stayed there for 5 days this october.
We had originally booked a D room but decided to upgrade to a SD after discovering a very sad/depressing room on arrival!
The location and view from the hotel is amazing. The snorkelling is ok (got lucky enought to spot a shark and a turtle).
But the food is very average, the atmosphere very quiet.
The worse part is the lack of service: staffs quite unfriendly (only 3 guys seems to work: the cook, the waiter and the receptionist while a bunch of guys is just sitting around...). They cleaned the room once every 2 days and asked you to pay to rent a beach towel that is probably just a towel left by previous inoccupant!
As it is remote it is quite difficult to eat somewhere else at night..
On a positive note, it is great to fall asleep listening to the sea waves.... good to watch the sunset from the balcony... and if you like snorkelling, i will recommend the snorkeling trip : even if it is not cheap, it is definitely worth going to corail island!!! one of the best snorkelling ever... clown fish/napoleons/turtle/shark....

The moment I reached the Panuba resort jetty, i'm in love with it. It is so beautiful. Crystal clear water, white sand , great ocean view ~ ! I stayed in a D room. The room is very basic, but it is very clean. I felt comfortable when i entered by room. The view from the room is great ! Stayed in Panuba for 5 days and it's a very pleasant experience, the beach is very peaceful..no noisy pub...if you are looking for quiet and peaceful place to rest, it is definately one you are looking for. I took my Open Water Diver cert with the dive shop in panuba, Bali hai divers. The overall experience is nice. The food in the only restaurant not that bad as others have commented.
