“There for a basic diving trip, cannot ask for much!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Went there as part of the diving package with dive instructors, for the price i paid, couldnt ask for much so dont get your hopes up too. We got a room on the hill. The room's toilet was small, the sheets and towels provided were thin and although they wash it, it looks very used. .... About the food, there wasnt much choice of food... but when you are hungry from diving... who cares!

I wont recommend this place if you are like planning a honeymoon or romantic holiday definitely. :X

“Dirty rooms, uneatable food, unexisting reception...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

Everything is pretty much said in the title.
We got a bungalow in the hill which was absolutely disgustingly dirty: dead bugs everywhere, sink and toilets were leaking litres of water all day long, the sheets were sticky...
About the food, I would say only two things: uneatable and no choice.
Do not stay there.

I stayed in the Ocean View Suite for 3 days 2 nights. Our Suite is like just next to the beach. It was an unforgettable suite and great scenery it got. Food buffet moderate. Great beach and everything were perfect for us.
Food were easily found. Nearby Restaurant They also provide family game for us for free..
I will go there again, definitely.

Rooms are affordable, clean and neat.
We can even see the sunset from our Hotel.
Overall experience were GREAT & FUN.

“Good Stay, Bad Customer Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2011

I had a great time being there for my diving trip. People were nice and friendly. Receptionist was friendly.

There was nothing wrong with my stay, it was after I stayed that turned me off.

I misplaced my glasses during my stay and totally forgot bout it till I left on the boat. So when I reached home, I got the email address to SBR's Zarina who I believed was a customer service for th resort.

I sent not 1 but 2 emails to get a reply from her. Requesting that the pair of glasses to be returned to me back in Singapore with all expenses paid by me.

She even requested my address and when I sent a follow up email to check if my glasses were on it's way, she totally didnt reply me even after she told me they had found it on a previous mail.

It is sad that a good resort to be faulted by a bad after sales service.

“Great location and food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2010

We went there in June 2010 with the 3D2N package and there were 11 of us (incl my parents and sisters in-law). The resort staff at Mersing was helpful even accompanying us and providing tips to my wife as the ferry was very late. When we arrived at the Kampung Genting jetty, again someone from the resort was there welcoming us and help our baggage onto a wooden trolley.

Surprising also we were given a sort of welcoming drinks, some briefing and room keys. The first thing we did is to collect our snorkeling gears (gogles and life vest) as we were told the outlet will be closed at 600pm.

The quad rooms with two (2) double beds were built on stilts (something like the traditional Malay house) perching on hill slopes. The staircase was steep, and not advisable for elderly person, likes my mother in-law. The rooms looks old & sparse and the air-cond was too small for the room. Luckily there was a wall fan. However the tap water was very cold, refreshing and again we were lucky the water heater was working well.

There were several power cuts that night and a tochlight will be handy. The next day we went for our snorkeliing excursion to Pulau Renggis and the Marine park. We were lucky that we managed to spend half an hour the day before trying our snorkeling gear. Most of us were first time doing snorkeling except my sister in-law. She taught us some basic steps. During the first drop-off at pulau Renggis, everybody on-board just went down into the water and there was no basic instruction given to us by our Guide (as stated in the package). Few people get panic and came back on-board. I spent about 15 minutes calming my son as the water a little bit choppy.

The foods expecially the BBQ were good (for me as Malaysian). Anyhow the resort was right near the jetty and there were several food stalls open up till 1000pm plus. The convenience store open up till 12midnight.

There was small beach in front of the resort and clean clear water. The water is shallow and during low tides, you have to go further out to swim. However there's no corals to see around that beach.

For any excursion it'll be an advantage from the resort as the jetty is nearby. However on the way back to Mersing, we found out that Kg Genting is the last ferry stop before heading out to Mersing. Hence by the time it reach our jetty (not to mentioned the time waiting for it), it was was almost full.
